ND girls beat Marshall, boys come up short

The North Delta basketball teams went on the road to Marshall Academy Friday and came away with a four-game split as the varsity and junior high girls earning wins. Marshall won both the varsity boys contest 76-52 and junior high boys game 54-29.
Breck Brewer paced the Junior High Lady Wave with 13 points as North Delta improved to 10-2 on the season with a 38-23 victory. Libby Miller added six while Ellie Gray supplied five. Shelby Grace Boone, Paizlee Woods and Sadie Gray chipped in with four points. Sophie Williams got into the scoring column with two points.
In the varsity girls game, Ally Alford poured in a game-high 28 points as North Delta (9-5) eased past the Lady Patriots 61-30. Faith Bollinger followed with 16 points and Hannah Bollinger contributing with seven. Shelby Grace Boone and Breck Brewer registered three points each while Sayle Stennett and Sydney Talley finished with two points apiece.
The North Delta boys fell to 2-8 with a 76-51 loss to the Patriots despite 15 points from Chris Burchfield. Colin Hartman added 14 while Ripkin Mitchell poured in eight.
Carter Gee and Walt Miller each provided five points each for North Delta. Drake Barton garnered three with Nolan Long finishing with two points in a losing effort.
North Delta visited Leake Academy Saturday for a pair of varsity games with the Lady Waves dropping a 53-32 game to the top-ranked Lady Rebels. No information was available on the boys’ contest.
The Green Wave returns to home court play Friday hosting Kirk Academy in a district tilt with four games beginning at 3:30 p.m.
