Mr. and Mrs. Ronald James Cockayne Jr.,  of Ridgeland, announce the engagement of their daughter, Jordan Elizabeth Cockayne to Robert Forrest Short, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Darnell Short of Wichita, Kan.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. John Rule Hoover and the late Mr.  Hoover and Mrs. Wayne Wilbur Scoville and the late Ronald James Cockayne Sr, all of Jackson.

Miss Cockayne is a 2012 graduate of Jackson Academy, attended the University of Mississippi where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority and was graduated from Belhaven University where she received her Bachelor of Science in nursing in 2017.

She is a registered nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

The prospective bride groom is the grandson of Mrs. Freida Jenkins Short of North Little Rock, Ark., and the late Mr. Monroe Short III, of Sardis,  and Mrs. Wiley Darnell Jenkins and the late Mr. Jenkins of Sherwood, Ark.  He is the great-grandson of Mrs. William Thomas Evans and the late Mr. Evans of Batesville.

Short is a 2013 graduate of Wichita Collegiate School and was graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College at the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. He was a 2017 Taylor Medal recipient and a member of Kappa Alpha Order while at Ole Miss.

Short is an investment banking analyst with Guggenheim Securities in New York.

The couple will exchange vows at Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson on Nov. 17, 2018.
