A faulty alarm clock was the reason given by a Batesville man for being tardy to Municipal Court Wednesday morning.

“My alarm clock did not go off, and I was called by a family member and woken up,”  Justin Frederick told Judge Jay Westfaul. Frederick was fined $100 for being late in addition to charges of contempt of court and old fines totaling $3,379. “I am ordering you to the city of Batesville’s work  program, and get a new alarm clock,” said Westfaul.

Linda Cooper, no address given, was found guilty of disorderly conduct, failure to comply and given one year probation for stealing fruit from Chili’s Restaurant. She told the judge she took some lemons from Applebee’s, although the official complaint said it was limes from Chili’s that caused her to be charged. “Stay away from Chili’s,” the judge said.
