Mary Joann Buckner

Mary Joann Buckner, 84, died Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the Providence Assisted Living Center in Batesville.

There will be a memorial service held for Ms. Buckner at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. prior to the service.  Reverend Rayford Ables will officiate.

Claudie Mae Dickens

Claudie Mae Dickens, 83, died Saturday, Aug. 11 at North Delta Hospice in Southaven.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 18, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion M. B. Church in Sardis. Interment will follow in Mt. Gillion M. B. Church Cemetery in Batesville.

She worked in private home care.

Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Georgia Ann Lewis

Georgia Ann Lewis, 66, died Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 18, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Level M. B. Church in Como. Pastor Bobby Walker will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held today from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary, who has charge of arrangements.

Lewis was born October 24, 1951 in Como to the late George Frost and Katherine Fletcher.

She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Level M. B. Church.

James Edward Thomas

SARDIS-James Edward “Bozo” Thomas, 62, died Sunday, August 12, 2018, at his residence.

Funeral service will be Saturday, August 18, at Cooley’s Mortuary Inc. Chapel. Dr. Zannie Leland Jr. will officiate.

Thomas was born July 29, 1956 in Sardis to the late C. W. Thomas and Lovie Jane Valentine.

He was a retired truck driver for Tallahatchie Valley Electric Power Association.

Survivors include one son, Christopher Thomas of Rankin; two daughters Sherakita Ferrell of Memphis and Jacambria Collins of Horn Lake; two brothers, C. W. Thomas Jr. of Chicago and Cleyter Thomas of Dallas; three sisters, Mary Ann Carter of Batesville, Katherine Thomas of Oxford and Willie Carter of Dolton, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
