Gas prices on the rise

We all know the drill by now. As Memorial Day and the beginning of the summer vacation season approaches, gasoline prices begin to creep up. And so they have again.
Batesville’s gas prices, on average are about 50 cents less a gallon than drivers are paying nationally, and roughly 18 cents less than the state average.
As of Monday afternoon, most stations in Batesville were advertising prices of $2.38 a gallon, with a few outlets about a nickle more.
An informal survey indicates drivers in DeSoto County are paying anywhere from $2.32 to $2.45 a gallon depending on location, while stations in Senatobia, Coldwater, and Sardis are on average $2.40.
The Love’s station at the first Batesville exit (driving south) on I-55 was $2.45 a gallon Monday, about the most expensively priced gas in the county.
Nationally, the highest prices are on the West Coast where gas in about $3.70 and on the East Coast where per gallon costs are around $2.95.
The lowest prices are in the Southeast, except for Georgia and Florida where prices are running about 8-10 cents more a gallon.
