Sheriff: Mother notices vehicle missing with child still inside

On November 5, a mother reported her white Chrysler 200 was missing along with her two-year-old son who was in the vehicle went it went missing. Deputy Steven Moore responded to Ruby Rd. in reference to a missing child where the mother advised deputies she was with her brother, friend and son when they arrived at the scene to drop off the friend.
The mother stated she went into the residence for approximately five minutes and upon returning outside she noticed her vehicle and child were gone. The mother advised her brother was very intoxicated and stated he must have driven off in the vehicle.
A “be on the look out” BOLO was placed in Panola and surrounding counties. Tallahatchie County Sheriff’s Department advised they had the vehicle and the child. The mother advised she wanted to pursue charges for unauthorized use of her vehicle.
A Panola County resident reported to Investigator Terry Smith she escaped her husband who refused to let her leave his residence after an altercation where the suspect retrieved a knife and attempted to assault the resident, according to the report. The resident advised her husband became angry when she spilled his beer.
According to the report, the suspect and resident were just married on October 9 and both were charged with domestic violence on October 18 to which both pleaded not guilty.
The resident advised she went back to live with the suspect after the October 18 incident. According to the report, the suspect held onto the knife for the rest of the night and forced himself on her.
The resident advised that the next day a friend and the resident’s sister came to the camper so the friend and suspect could purchase “dope”.
After the friend and suspect left to go get the drugs, the resident’s sister contacted her parents and the father arrived to pick up the resident, according to the report.
The resident stated she is scared to death of the suspect and wants a protection order. According to the resident’s sister, the suspect is using drugs and is dangerous.
Deputy Mark Allen responded to Green Hill Cir., Sardis where paramedics advised the victim was being transported to The Med in Memphis due to a head injury.
According to the report, there was a large pool of blood in the parking lot. Deputy Allen spoke to the individual that found the victim who stated she tried to help the victim but advised he was combative. The individual stated she did not see anyone attack the victim.
Deputy Allen asked neighbors if they had seen anyone in the area during the assault but all advised they didn’t see anything. The incident is under further investigation.
A Court St., Sardis resident reported to Deputy Steven McLarty the suspect was keeping his dog for him until he finished moving. The resident advised he went to check on the dog and noticed it was missing.
According to the report, the resident spoke to several people who claimed the suspect was trying to trade the dog for drugs.
The Panola County Sheriff’s Department received 29 calls from Panola County residents requesting the assistance of Sheriff Deputies from November 3 to November 9.
November 3
• Deputy Kevin Leland responded to Earnest Bacon Rd. where an individual reported the suspect stole her EBT out of her purse. According to the report, the suspect text the individual stating “I’m going to eat good off this EBT card tomorrow.” The individual stated the suspect also told her she better watch her black Impala.
• Lee Jennings Rd., Sardis resident reported to Deputy Darryl House that she arrived home and noticed the back patio glass had been broken out and advised someone entered the residence and stole a stack of DVDs, Xbox One game and remote and a 55” flat screen TV.
November 4
• Hiblett Rd., Como resident reported to Deputy Moore she noticed her black 2006 Chevy Impala missing from behind her home. The resident advised she did not know the license plate or VIN number. The resident requested extra patrol in her neighborhood.
• Deputy McLarty responded to Sardis Lake Dr. for a report of stolen property. According to the report, the resident reported she noticed a red battery charger on wheels and a black jump box missing from her shed.
• Lieutenant Chuck Tucker and Deputy McLarty were dispatched to Henderson Rd. in reference to a subject being off his meds.
The Deputies spoke with the resident who reported the last time the subject was drinking and off of his meds he threatened to break the resident’s fingers if she touched his things.
The resident received a call from her mother stating the subject was at her house with a BB gun but advised he was not violent. According to the report, the subject was confused and agitated. Lifeguard transported the subject to the hospital for further evaluation.
• McClyde Road, Como resident reported to Deputy Louyise Linzy he observed two dogs that appeared to be pit bulls come into his yard and eat his cats’ food. The resident stated he chased the dogs off but advised the dogs come into his yard on a regular basis.
The resident also stated he is missing a kitten which he believes was scared off or eaten by the dogs. Deputy Linzy attempted to locate the dogs but was unsuccessful.
November 5
• Mt. Olivet Rd. resident reported to Deputy McLarty her poodle was outside when a pitbull came onto her property and attacked her dog causing injury. The dog was captured and taken to the Panola County Sheriff’s Department.
November 6
• Deputy Tripp Williams responded to Panola Medical Center in reference to an assault. According to the report, the resident advised she was home asleep and heard someone in the house and saw a black male trying to steal her TV.
The resident advised the suspect attacked her when she asked him what he was doing in her house. The resident stated her husband found her on the floor and brought her to the hospital.
• Eureka Rd. resident reported to Deputy Williams her friend called asking about her firearm and wanted to know if it was missing. The resident checked and noticed the firearm was missing. The resident stated the last time she was the gun was on October 30, 2017.
• Askew resident reported to Deputy Hunter Lawrence the suspect came to his residence to buy some merchandise, but advised the suspect did not have enough money to purchase all of the merchandise.
According to the report, the suspect became angry and began throwing the merchandise breaking a picture after throwing it to the ground. The resident advised the suspect left the residence with two duck pictures, hunting jacket and a decorative window without purchasing the items.
• HWY 35 South resident reported to Deputy Seth Cook he noticed five Hydrocodone pills missing from his room and $20 missing from his wallet.
According to the report, the resident found out through his brother that the suspect admitted to taking the medicine along with six gold coins that are estimated to be worth approximately $900.
The resident stated he confronted the suspect who then pulled a knife and threatened to kill his uncle and brothers before running out of the residence and into the woods.
• Lt. Emily Griffin spoke to a McClyde Rd., Como resident who stated her neighbor has been harassing her for several months. According to the report, the neighbor has accused the resident of shutting her electricity off and starting a DirectTV account in her name.
The resident also stated the neighbor has called her job on numerous occasions to file complaints on her and advised she has even had a law enforcement officer come to her place of employment in reference to some kittens the neighbor claims she stole. The resident advised she is afraid this matter is going to jeopardize her employment.
November 8
• Tocowa Rd., Courtland resident reported to Investigator Tyler Mills someone broke into his rental property. The resident advised he came to work on his rental property and noticed the back door had been messed with and that he was missing a Robo drill set with bit set and tools, a Craftmans Sander and Craftmans Multi-tool set.
According to the report, there was damage to the front door, but entry was made through the back door and the subjects exited through a window in the garage.
• Deputy Linzy responded to a burglary on Curtis Rd. where an individual who was working on a home for a friend advised he left his tools in the home and discovered someone went through a window and stole his tools which are worth approximately $1,000.
The individual advised he secured all of the doors prior to the incident. Deputy Linzy photographed the scene and the incident is under further investigations.
• Hadorn Rd. resident reported to Deputy Harold Lewis a stranger entered his home without permission while she was taking a shower.
According to the report, the resident’s three-year-old son opened the front door and let an unknown man into her home. The resident stated the individual walked down the hallway, knocked on the bathroom door and took her purse off of the bed. According to the report, the resident reported three credit cards missing.
• Tocowa Rd., Courtland resident reported to Deputy Williams she was sitting by the window and noticed a subject standing next to her vehicle in the yard.
The resident stated she went into her bedroom and got her gun before activating her alarm. The resident went outside and shot her rifle three times as the subject was running off, according to the report.
• Deputy Jeff Still responded to Coles Point Grocery on Sardis Lake Drive where it was reported that a subject in a white Crown Victoria or Mercury Grand Marquis drove off after pumping $38.92 worth of gas.
According to the report, a white male walked into the store and handed the clerk a credit card and asked to fill his car up with gas. The clerk advised after the subject pumped the gas he drove off.
