SARDIS–Jeff Lee Barber, 65, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.
Services were Saturday at Felix Cauthen Funeral Home. Burial was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home had charge.
Barber was a factory worker.
Survivors include: one son, Edwin Barber of Chicago and six grandchildren.
MARKS–Harold Douglas “Doug” Collins, 73, died Friday, May 2, 2008, in Oxford.
Services were Monday at West Marks Baptist Church. Rev. John Shackleford and Rev. Mike Smithey officiated. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.
Collins, born May 8, 1934, to the late Vermon and Dale Collins, in Calhoun County, was a member of West Marks Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include: his wife, Joan Collins of Marks; three sons, Ken Collins of Houston, Texas, Mike Collins of Fort Myers, Fla. and Kevin Collins of Pasadena, Texas; one sister, Belinda Collins Simpson of Clarksdale; two brothers, Gary Collins of Atlanta and Cloray Collins of Sparta, Tenn.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Maglene Gate, 94, died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
Services are Saturday at noon at Springfield M.B. Church. Burial will be in Mt. Level Church in Como. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.
Gate was a member of First Baptist Church and later joined Springfield M.B. Church. She was a factory worker.
Survivors include: three sons, Robert Burdette of Memphis, Leroy Burdette and Dan Burdette, both of Como; two sisters, Katie Farris and Francis Gates, both of Memphis; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
POPE–Yvonne Minyard Hall, 68, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
Services are today at 2 p.m. at Love Joy United Methodist Church. Rev. Todd Pittman will officiate. Burial will be in Love Joy Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Hall, born Aug. 26, 1939, to the late Rufus and Carrie Valentine Pinkston Minyard in Carroll County, was a homemaker and a member of Love Joy United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: her husband, Walter Gene Hall of Pope; one daughter, Britta Ann Irwin of Wynne, Ark.; two sons, Charlton Allen Hall of Pope and James Coleman Hall of Pope; two sisters, Gloria Browning of Grenada and Christine Gilbreath of Paris, Tenn.; two brothers, Jerome Minyard of Pope and Randy Minyard of Crown Point, Ind.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
HERNANDO–Virginia C. McIngvale, 96, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at her residence. She was the mother of Wesley A. McIngvale of Batesville.
Services were Wednesday at the Hernando United Methodist Church. Hernando Funeral Home had charge.
McIngvale attended Hernando School. After graduation, she started work in the Chancery Clerk’s office, where she stayed until her marriage to Herbert A. McIngvale in 1940. She was a member of the Eastern Star, UMW, and a past member of the Hernando Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert McIngvale.
Survivors along with her son include: one son, George S. McIngvale of Coldwater; one daughter, Ginger Gartrell of Walls; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
BATESVILLE–Robert “Buddy Kitty” Smith, 85, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at his residence.
Services are Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel. Rev. W.L. Nash will officiate. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation will be today 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
Smith, born Aug. 12, 1922, in Clarksdale, to the late Robert Smith Sr. and the late Kitty Williams, was a farmer.
Survivors include: his wife, Geneva Smith of Batesville; one daughter, Doris Hill of Memphis; one son, Tony Cox of Batesville; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
