North Delta upset previously undefeated Delta 9-5 in district action Thursday afternoon.
Monday morning the school was told of head coach David Hardy’s resignation, effective June 30, according to head master John Howell Jr. Hardy plans to go to work in the private business sector, Howell said.
As the season nears an end in two and a half weeks, the teams are looking closely at district games. The Green Wave (2-1 district) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Josh Garrott doubled to get on base and scored on a J.T. Dalrymple single to center field.
In the third inning, the Green Wave put up five runs.
Garrott was the leadoff batter again and doubled to get on base. Dalrymple singled and J.T. Copeland doubled, followed by Greenlee on a double. All four got on base and scored. Geri Lamm tripled and came home on an Austin Gant double for the final run of the inning.
The Green Wave added three more runs in the fifth inning. Seth Barnett, Lamm and Bailey Guckert all singled to get on base and scored. Also getting hits in the inning were Garrott and Dalrymple who both singled.
Copeland was on the mound for the Green Wave as he fanned six batters, allowed four walks and 11 hits.
There has been a change in the Green Wave schedule for today. Instead of Kirk Academy, the Green Wave will play a district doubleheader against Marvell at home beginning at 4 p.m. The venue for the Thursday game against West Memphis has not been decided.
