Local diamond teams have full slate of games


The South Panola Lady Tigers softball team did not play the Tuesday district game against Starkville, which will be rescheduled according to head coach Ashleigh Hicks.

The Lady Tigers also changed the schedule for last night’s game when they played Southaven on the road instead of Cleveland. Those games with Cleveland have been rescheduled for Thursday at 1 and 2 p.m. before the Horn Lake games at 5 and 6 p.m. This weekend, weather permitting, the Lady Tigers will take part in the Tupelo Park and Recreation’s annual high school softball jamboree.

The Lady Tigers will play four games in Pool F on Paslay field.

Friday, they will play Daphne at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, they will play three games beginning at 10 a.m. with Horn Lake. At 4 p.m. they will play West Memphis and finish the tournament against Caledonia at 7 p.m.

Tuesday, they resume regular season play at Tupelo. The district match up begins at 5 p.m. with the junior varsity game.

Tiger baseball

The Tiger baseball team hosted Tupelo in its first district game of the season. The score was not available at press time. Tonight the Tigers will travel to Tupelo for the second game of the three game series.

Saturday, the Tigers will host Byhalia at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

During spring break, the ninth grade team will host Tupelo Monday in a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, the Tigers travel to Oxford for games at 5 and 7 p.m. Thursday, the Tigers will play Desoto Central at Ole Miss at 6:30 p.m.

North Delta

The North Delta Green Wave baseball team will participate in the Delta Tournament Monday.

The team will take the rest of the week off for sring break and return to action March 17.

The Green Wave will travel to West Memphis for a district contest.
