Martha Barbee

BATESVILLE–Mrs. Martha Corrine Barbee, 83, widow of J.O. “Joe” Barbee, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007 at Sardis Nursing Home.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Dickins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. Reverend Doug Pepper and Kenneth Corley  will officiate the services.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Mrs. Barbee was born April 23, 1924 in Batesville to Shuford and Willie Lee Epps Lewellen.

She is survived by her sons, Bobby Joe Barbee and wife Pam, Jimmie Lee Barbee and wife Jo, all of Batesville; daughter, Sherry Anderson and husband Bobby of Batesville; brother, Cyrus Lewellen of Batesville; sisters; Laverne Lewallen of Charleston, and Bonnie Johnson of Sardis;  seven grandchildren: Stacy and wife Kathy Barbee, James Ray and wife Kim Barbee, Jeremy and wife Nikki Barbee, Brandon and wife Karry Anderson, Scott and wife Betsy Anderson, Brandon and wife Lindsey Petit and Ashley and husband Brandon Finley; 14 great grandchildren: Nicole,  Erin, Cassie, Garner, Lauren Grace, Will, Tyler, Suzanna, William, Trace, Tate, Taylor, Logan and Maddy; and  three great-great grandchildren:  Karlie, Addison, Amery.

James E. Ford

MEMPHIS- James E. Ford, 58, died October 10, 2007, at his residence in Memphis.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, December 19 at Hodges Funeral Home in Oxford. Elder Raymond D. Ford Jr. presided.  Burial was in Memphis National Cemetery.

Ford, a native of Panola County, was a retired postal worker. He was a U.S. Army veteran.  Survivors include a son Ricky Market of Chicago; six sisters, Marguerite Gipson of Holly Springs; Thelma Willingham and Lottie Parker of Memphis; Georgia Ford of Sardis; Jessie Finlayson of Tampa, Florida; Earline Blake of Oxford; four brothers, Elder Raymond Ford of Warner Robin, Georgia; Franklin Ford, Sr. and Dorris Ford of Sardis; Gerald Ford of Amarillo, Texas; and one grandson.

Ford was preceded in death by his parents.

William Stanley “Stan” Guest

BATESVILLE – William Stanley “Stan” Guest, 51, died Sunday, December 1, 2007, at Regional Medical Center in Memphis.

Services were Wednesday, December 19 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home was in charge.

Guest, born December 21, 1955, to William Sherrell and Betty Ware Guest in Memphis, was a mechanic for Sonoco Products Company of Memphis. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Memphis.

Along with his wife Stephanie Todd Guest of Holly Springs, Guest is survived by daughters Amanda Michelle Guest and Brooke Elise Guest of Southaven and Taylor Evelyn Guest of Hernando; sons William Jacob Guest of Southaven and Chase Evan Guest, Stanley Todd Guest, William Stanley Guest Jr., and Eli Rawles Guest all of Hernando; his parents William and Betty Guest of Water Valley, sister Cheryl Guest Ball of Greenville, NC, and a grandson.

 Survivors include daughter Jean Hout Chronister of Sikeston and son Mervi “Bo” Reid of Crowder.   

David Lynn Montgomery

COMO – David Lynn Montgomery, 53, died Monday, December 17, 2007, at his residence in Como.

 Services are at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 21 at Moore – Nowell Funeral Home Chapel in Sardis. Burial will be at Monette Cemetery in Monette, Arkansas at 2 p.m. on December 21. Moore-Nowell Funeral Home is in charge.

Montgomery, born August 6, 1954, to Gerald Andrew Montgomery and Ruby Lavern Holden in Jonesboro AR, was a draftsman for Cook, Douglas and Farr in Jackson. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors are his mother, Ruby H. Duncan and stepfather Alvin Duncan Sr. both of Sardis; sister Jan M. Hudson of Sardis, brothers Glenn Montgomery Sr. of Winona and Doug Montgomery of Pope; and stepsister Debbie D. Bateman of Decatur, Ala.

Montgomery was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Andrew Montgomery and stepbrother Al Duncan Jr.
 

Thelma Skeen Reid

LAMBERT –  Thelma Skeen Reid, 93,  died December 19, 2007, at Fairfield Assisted Living Center in Batesville.

Services will be held Saturday, December 22, at First Baptist Church in Lambert.

 Rev Courtney Selvy will officiate. Burial will be in Lambert Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks.

Reid, born July 18, 1914, in Luxora, Arkansas, was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Lambert. She was the widow of Winfred Franklin Reid.
