Writer seeks higher moral standards

In general, we as Americans have failed our children tremendously. We no longer discipline our children or teach them right and wrong. Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell. (Proverbs 23:13-14)

We send our children to school to learn from complete strangers that anything they do and believe is accepted. We as Americans have become a Godless society. We have taken prayer out of school.

Most of all we, as a whole, have taken God out of our homes. Our schools are full of vulgar language, drugs, alcohol and an overwhelming number of teen pregnancies.

When will we acknowledge there is a problem? Enough is enough; it is time to take control of our kid’s lives.

I was recently in a store where a 12-year-old girl was selling alcohol. I tried explaining to her that she shouldn’t be involved, but somewhere along the way she was taught that it was morally correct. The most disturbing part is that I called the police to see what the laws were and they told me there wasn’t an age limit on selling beer.

It is time to admit there is a problem. A nation without God will fall, how much more will God take? Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6)

Children have been taught that being successful in this world is all that matters. It’s all right to lower your standards or step on others to get what you want. Money is the most important thing in life according to most people.

The Bible states that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God (Mark 10:25)

 I recently was taught that we should have more compassion for others. We need to have a burden for others. Only then can we begin to change others and ourselves. We need to have compassion towards our children, our neighbors and even those we don’t know.

Our own wants and needs keep us from helping others. If we can make a change in the lives of our children, we can restore the integrity of our society.

Just remember it starts at home. Teach your children to respect others and most importantly have self-respect. We can’t afford to remove God from our country; it’s our children’s lives that are at risk. We must take a stand for what we know is right.
