Tabor, Mack H.
Mack H. Tabor, 83, of Courtland, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at his residence of heart disease.

Services were Wednesday at Mt. Oliver M.B. Church in Curtis. Burial was at the Macedonia Cemetery in Batesville. Rev. W.L. Nash officiated. Henderson Funeral Home of Sardis had charge.

Tabor, born Aug. 10, 1920, to the late Henry Tabor, was a retired gin operator. He was a veteran of WW II and a member of Mt. Olivet M.B. Church in Curtis.

Survivors include his wife Christine Tabor of Courtland; three daughters, Ruby Milam of Courtland, Georgia Head and Ella Mae Samuel, both of Chicago, Ill.; three sons, Willie E. Tabor of Crenshaw, Ely C. Tabor of Nesbit and David Tabor of Batesville; one sister Glorene Craig of Chicago, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.


Taylor, Lucille "Doll"
Lucille "Doll" Taylor, 61, of Senatobia, died Friday, August 15, 2003, at Methodist South Hospital in Memphis.

Services were Saturday at Mt. Level M.B. Church in Como. Burial was at Howard Chapel Church. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home in Senatobia had charge.

Taylor was a life time member of Mt. Level Church and a retired school bus driver.

Survivors include one daughter Darlene Taylor; two sons, James Edward Taylor of Batesville and David Levell Taylor of Sardis; one sister Bertha Callicott of Memphis; four brothers, Milton Gross of Sardis, Arthur Gross of Memphis, Bobby Gross of Sardis and Oscor Gross of Memphis; 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild.


Tedford, Richard "Sonny" Cortez
Richard "Sonny" Cortez Tedford, 65, of Marks, died Tuesday, August 12, 2003, at his residence.

Services were Thursday at Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks. Burial was at Marks Cemetery. Dr. Ron Kirkland officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Tedford, born March 22, 1938, to the late Arlas "Bridges" Tedford and the late Opaline Williams Tedford, worked for Valley Foods, was a member of West Marks Baptist Church, a member of the Realtors Association and a former House of Representatives for eight years.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Tena Morgan.

Survivors include his wife Donna Walley of Houston, Miss.; one daughter Mona Pittman of Batesville; one son Rusty Tedford of Memphis; one brother Jerry Tedford of Bruce; five grandchildren, Emma, Anne Elizabeth, Cady Pittman, Russ Tedford and Lane Morgan.


Tedford, Willie T. "Ta"
Willie T. "Ta" Tedford, 92, of Courtland, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at her daughter’s home of heart failure.

Services were Saturday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Magnolia Cemetery. Rev. Eugene Howell and Rev. William Johnson officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Tedford, born October 16, 1910, to the late William Kervin and the late Edna Earle Hill Williams, was a retired owner of T.A. Tedford Grocery and a member of Emanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Martha Tedford Hubbard of Courtland and Patsy Tedford Stanley of Jackson; one son Toy A. Tedford, Jr. of Bay Saint Louis, Miss.; one sister Irma May Williams Goss of Clarksdale; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
 


Thomas, Cubit Lee
Cubit Lee Thomas, 43, of Batesville, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at his residence.

Services were Thursday at Shiloh M.B. Church in Courtland with interment at Shiloh Cemetery. Rev. Carl Brown officiated services. Cooley’s Mortuary, Inc. had charge.

Thomas, born Dec. 3, 1959, to Cubit Thomas and Lora Oliver, was a farmer and a member of Shiloh M.B. Church.

Survivors include his companion, Mattie Jones of Batesville; two sons, Benjamin Jones and Justin Thomas, both of Batesville; three daughters, Chestina Jones of Batesville, Brenda Coleman and Lisa Coleman both of Memphis, Tenn.; one brother, Barry Thomas of Grand Rapid, Mich.; six sisters, Rosie Webster and Bobbie Webster both of Courtland, Emma Carr of Batesville, Betty Lester, Leona Webster, and Betty M. Wright, all of Grand Rapids, Mich; and five grandchildren.
 


Thomas, John
John Thomas, 89, of Charleston, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Services were Thursday at Newsom Funeral Home. Burial was at New Hope Cemetery in Tillatobia. Newsom Funeral Home had charge.

Thomas, born Sept. 12, 1913, was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife Alice Thomas of Charleston; one son Ray Slaughter of Oakland; two sisters, Maggie Tucker of Richmond, Va. and Johnnie Mae Chambers of Dallas, Texas; one brother James Thomas of Grenada and two grandchildren.


Thomas, John Reed
John Reed Thomas, 44, of Detroit, Mich., died Sunday, August 3, 2003, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mich.

Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Viney Creek M.B. Church in Sardis. Burial is at Viney Creek Cemetery. Rev. Ozine Thomas will officiate.

Thomas, born June 30, 1959, to the late Genie Thomas and the late Nancy Hewlette, was disabled and a member of Viney Creek M.B. Church in Sardis.

Survivors include one son Brandon Thomas of Detroit, Mich.; one daughter Gaberiel Thomas of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Rev. Ozine Thomas of Memphis and Eddie Thomas of Springfield, Mo.; five sisters, Carrie Thomas, Emma Thomas, both of Batesville, Eunice Edwards and Barbara McCullins, both of Los Angeles, Calif. and Rosie Shaw of Milwaukee, Wis.


Thomas, Minnie L.
Minnie L. Thomas, 100, of Batesville, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at her home.

Services were Saturday at Concord M.B. Church, with interment at Concord Cemetery in Batesville. Rev. John Snow, III officiated. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.

Thomas, born Feb. 17, 1903, to the late Walter and Hattie Johnson Griffin, was a housewife, a member of Concord M.B. Church, a member of Mother Board and Order of Eastern Star Panola County Lodge #2.

Survivors include six daughters, Wilkie Hentz of Batesville, Lucille Cooper of Batesville, Irma Martin of Batesville, Annie Smith of Tulsa, Okla., Alberta Gains of South Bend, Ind. and Lula Childs of Tulsa, Okla.; two sons, Joseph Thomas of Batesville and Stanley Thomas, Jr. of Batesville; one sister, Lula Black of Batesville; 33 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
 


Thomas-Dodd, Patricia Parnell
Patricia Parnell Thomas-Dodd, 70, of Sardis, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston.

Services were Saturday at Moore Funeral Home, Sardis, with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. Rev. Allen Parnell officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

Dodd, born August 7, 1932, to the late Floyd Parnell and the late Tommye Ester Raiford Parnell, was a member of Central Heights Baptist Church in Florence, Ala., member of Pilot Club and Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Cecil Dodd of Florence, Ala.; one daughter, Jamie Thomas of Charleston, S.C. and one brother, Robert Ford Parnell of Boulder, Colo.


Thomas, Wilma Dean
Wilma Dean Thomas, 68, of Houston, Texas, died Sunday, February, 23, 2003, at Park Plaza Hospital in Houston, Tex.

Services will be held Saturday, at 2 p.m. at Concord M.B. Church in Batesville with interment at Concord Cemetery. Rev. John Snow, III will officiate. Cooley’s Mortuary, Inc. has charge.

Thomas, born February 9, 1935, to the late Edward Thomas, Jr. and the late Eddie Love Thomas, was a professional seamstress and a member of Concord M.B. Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Hope Thomas of Houston; one son, Charles Edward Thomas, of Houston; two brothers, Charles McCain and Arthur Roy Thomas, both of Batesville; four sisters, Anna J. Chapman of Batesville, Vivian Henderson of Memphis, Vernan Earl of Chicago, Ill., and LaJoyce Dixon of Evanston, Ill; and four grandchildren.


Thornton, William T.
William T. Thornton, 69, of Batesville, died Monday, September 8, 2003, of cancer.

Services are Sunday at 3 p.m. at Springhill Pope M.B. Church. Visitation is Saturday from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Burial is at Springhill Pope Cemetery. Hodges Funeral Home in Pope has charge.

Thornton was a retired custodian supervisor.

Survivors include his mother Lue Annie Thornton of Pope; his wife Dorothy C. Thornton; two daughters, Marilyn Chase of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Gloria Lewis of Astoria, N.Y.; two sons, William Earl Thornton of Flushing, N.Y. and Eric Thornton of Netherlands; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.


Tidwell, Billy W.
Billy W. Tidwell, 72, of Batesville, died Sunday, July 6, 2003, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of heart failure.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is at Forrest Memorial Park. Rev. Doug Pepper will officiate. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Tidwell, born June 25, 1931, to the late Deward W. and Ida Mae Bright Tidwell, was retired from the U.S. soil conservation of 33 years and a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife Fay Hardy Tidwell of Batesville; three sons, Stephen Wayne Tidwell, Phillip Ray Tidwell and Joe Tidwell, all of Batesville; two step-sons, Billy H. James and Carl James, both of Charleston; one sister Jeanette Tidwell Berry of Batesville; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


Tidwell, Cecil E. "Toad"
Cecil E. "Toad" Tidwell, 89, of Batesville, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of heart failure.

Services were Friday at Sardis Lake Baptist Church. Burial was at Forrest Memorial Park. Rev. Albert Wilkerson and Rev. Kevin Crofford officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Tidwell, born Dec. 23, 1913, to the late Ed Stanford and the late Mattie Howell Tidwell, was retired from Tennessee Gas and a member of the Sardis Lake Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son Phil T. Tidwell of Perkinston; one daughter Pat Tidwell Horne of Batesville; one brother Billy Tidwell of Batesville; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.


Tidwell, Rocky Wayne
Rocky Wayne Tidwell, 35, of Batesville, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at his residence of heart failure.

Services were Friday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Forrest Memorial Park. Rev. Lee Wilcutt officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Tidwell, born, Oct. 21, 1966, to Wayne and Judy Wright Tidwell, was an engineer for Outokumpu and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his parents Wayne and Judy Wright Tidwell of Batesville; one brother Rodney G. Tidwell of Tylertown; his grandmother Dorothy Tidwell of Batesville and two nieces, Abbi and Anna Tidwell of Tylertown, Miss.
 


Tiner, Clifford B.
Clifford B. Tiner, 71, of Batesville died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at her Tri-Lakes Medical Center of heart failure.

Funeral services are Wednesday, at 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Tiner, born August 1, 1931, to the late Gaines Bailey and Willie Caples Tiner, was a retired laborer and a member of North Batesville Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Patty Tiner Daughtery of Batesville, Daile Tiner Johnson, Kathleen Tiner Fortner and Patricia Tiner Ragon, all of Courtland; two sons, Randy L. Tiner of Courtland and Tom Jim Tiner of Batesville; three sisters, Tommie Tiner White of Senatobia, Frances Tiner Shaw of Lambert and Shirley Tiner Peeples of Picayune; two brothers, Rolan Tiner of Nashville and Charles Tiner of Holly Springs; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
 


Towns, David Sr. 
David Towns Sr., 85, of Batesville died Monday, April 21, 2003, at his residence.

Funeral services are today at 2 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel in Batesville. Burial is at East Batesville Cemetery in Sardis. Rev. Tommy Wiley Sr. will officiate. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Towns, born Sept. 10, 1917, was a farmer.

Survivors include four daughters, Shirley Hewlette of Batesville, Ruby Turner of Sardis, Gennie Ellis of Stuggert, Ark. and Janie Henderson of Memphis, Tenn.; six sons, David Towns Jr., Junior Lee Towns, Earnest Towns, James Towns, Joe Lee Towns, all of Batesville, and Eddie Towns of Chicago, Ill.; 28 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and a host of great-great-grandchildren.


Trammell, Raymond E.
Raymond E. Trammell, 60, of Sardis, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at his residence.

Services are Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 2 p.m. at Rock Hill M.B. Church in Sardis. Burial will be in Rock Hill Cemetery. Rev. Melvin Dandridge will officiate. Cooley’s Mortuary, Inc. has charge.

Trammell, born July 5, 1943, to the late Martin Trammell and the late Irene Webb, was a member of Rock Hill M.B. Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Rosie Marie Trammell, Tonya Trammell, Emma Trammell and Scarlett Trammell, all of Milwaukee, Wis.; two sons, Robert Trammell and Joshua Trammell, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; one sister, Maudie Johnson of Batesville; and one brother Willie James Trammell of St. Louis, Mo.


Trigg, Mabel Tuttle
Mabel Tuttle Trigg, 92, of Batesville, died Friday, July 11, 2003, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of heart failure.

Services were Sunday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Magnolia Cemetery. Rev. Martin Case and Dr. Johnny Spencer officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Trigg, born June 19, 1911, to the late Robert Adison and the late Myrtle Sanders Tuttle, was a homemaker and a member of The First United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband Henry F. Trigg.

Survivors include one brother Forrest R. Tuttle of Batesville and a host of nieces and nephews.


Todd, Martha Lucille Broome
Martha Lucille Broome Todd, 91, of Batesville, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services were Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home of Batesville. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville. Rev. Gerald Walker officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Todd, born Dec. 2, 1912, to the late John C. and the late Flora Dell Hawkins Broome, was a homemaker and a member of Goodhope Baptist Church.

Survivors include one brother Earl W. Broome of Lee Summit, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her husband Heron Albert "Billy" Todd.


Tubbs, Charles David
Charles David Tubbs, 46, of Sardis, died Saturday, May 31, 2003 at North Mississippi Regional Center in Oxford of heart failure.

Services were Monday at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Cold Springs Cemetery. Hal Johnson officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

Tubbs, born, March 8, 1957, to the late I.O. Tubbs and Connie Samuels Tubbs, was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his mother Connie Tubbs of Sardis; three sisters Mary Towles of Batesville, Ruby Jean Doubleday of Sardis and Rebecca Joyce Ford of Collierville, Tenn. and one brother Ira Otis Tubbs of Batesville.


Tucker , John Asa Sr.
John Asa Tucker Sr., 83, of Batesville, died Monday, August 25, 2003, at Baptist East Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Services were Thursday at the First United Methodist Church. Burial was at Batesville Magnolia Cemetery. Rev. Martin Case and Rev. Don Bishop officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Tucker, born Feb. 9, 1920, to the late Asa Caldwell Tucker and the late Emma Louise Whitten Tucker, was the President of Tucker Manufacturing, a member of the First United Methodist Church, a Veteran of WWII, a graduate of the University of Mississippi, a member of the University Loyalty Foundation, one of the founders of Batesville Security Bank, a Charter member and past president of the Panola Country Club.

Survivors include his wife Jane Wilson Tucker of Batesville; one son John Asa Tucker Jr. of Batesville and his wife Loree; one daughter Edith Tucker Herron and her husband Vernon Herron of Batesville and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church, 119 Panola Avenue, Batesville and the American Cancer.


Turnage, Flora Maples "Nanny"
Flora Maples "Nanny" Turnage, 75, of Batesville, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at her residence of heart failure.

Services will be Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home in Sardis with interment at Forrest Memorial Park. Chip Horton will officiate service. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Turnage, born April 28, 1927, to Clarence and Stella Perkins Maples in Tipton County, Tenn. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Academy Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Eppie B. Turnage of Batesville; four daughters, Sharlotte Turnage Rupprecht and Jeanette Turnage Chrestman both of Batesville, Patricia Turnage Bishop of Memphis, and Jeanice Turnage Windham of Lena; one son, Jimmy Turnage of Oxford; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Turnage is preceded in death by her son Eppie Duane Turnage.


Turner, Chancie
Chancie Turner, 72, of Dermott, Ark., died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at Desha County Hospital in McGehee, Ark.

Services were Wednesday at Oak Grove C.M.E. Church in Water Valley. Burial was at Oak Grove C.M.E. Church Cemetery in Water Valley. Rev. Theo Austin officiated. Water Valley Funeral Home had charge.

Turner was born Jan. 13, 1931.

Survivors include his wife Mattie Turner; two daughters, Elois Nelson of Conway, Ark. and Shirley Mosley of St. Louis, Mo.; one son Willie Turner of Memphis; two brothers, James Turner of Water Valley and Clinton Turner Jr. of Water Valley and one sister Louise Smith of Memphis.
    


Turner, Claude
Claude Turner, 60, of San Bernadino, Calif., formerly of Water Valley, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at his residence.

Services will be Saturday, Feb. 15, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Green M.B. Church with interment at New Providence M.B. Church in Water Valley. M.J. Edwards Funeral Home has charge.

Turner, born Feb. 10, 1942, to the late Clayton Turner and the late Elsie Turner, was a member of Sanders Chapel M.B. Church in Water Valley.

Survivors include two daughters, Marie Shaw of San Diego, Calif., and Phylecia Taylor of San Bernadino, Calif.; two sons, Calvin Turner and Terrial Turner both of Batesville; four brothers, Johnny Turner of Phoenix, Ill., Clayton Turner, Jr. of Flint, Mich., Robert Turner and Lawrence Turner, both of Water Valley; four sisters, Lucille Joseph and Ora Mae Kerr both of Water Valley, Ona Mae Wright and Bernice Willingham both of Davenport, Iowa; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
 


Turner, Otha
Otha Turner, 94, of Senatobia died Thursday, Feb., 27, 2003, in his residence.

Services will be Tuesday, March 4, at 1 p.m. at Cistern Hill M.B. Church in Como. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.

Turner, the husband of the late Ada Turner of Charleston, was a retired farmer, legendary blues fifer and was a life member of Hunter Chapel M.B. Church of Como.

Survivors include six daughters; Betty T. Freeman of Senatobia, Bernice Pratcher of Senatobia, Ada Mae Turner of Senatobia, Dorothy Turner of Senatobia, Nellie T. Momon of Como and a step-daughter, Minnie Brown of Como; two sons, Mac Freeman of Senatobia and Bruce Porter of Como; one brother, Otis Eaven of Canton; 35 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
 


Tyner, James T.
James T. Tyner, 89, of Como, died Jan. 29, 2003, at Methodist North in Memphis, Tenn. of heart failure.

Services were Friday at Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Sardis with interment at Fulmer Cemetery. Rev. Robert Smith officiated services. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

Tyner, born Dec. 13, 1913, to the late J.N. Tyner and the late Esther Tyner was a retired salesman for Youngtown Stores. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include one son, Charles Tyner of Memphis, Tenn.; one brother, Virgil Tyner of Tillatoba; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Elsie Jewel Tyner.
