Tigers Defeat Horn Lake and Now Boast 5-0 Record

BATESVILLE – The South Panola Tigers kept its undefeated record (5-0 overall, 1-0 district) intact as the Tigers won the homecoming contest 41-24.
This homecoming game was dedicated to the memory of Cody Austin, a South Panola student who died in an automobile accident last week.

Rachel Shaw was crowned the 2002 homecoming queen and had double reasons to celebrate with the victory.
Sophomore Marcus Griffin was the hero of the night as he scored three touchdowns on the night. Griffin also led in rushing with 171 yards on 19 carries.
Tiger quarterback Rickey Wright had close to 100 yards with 97 ground yards on 22 carries.
ND Pulls Out a Big "Must Win"

BATESVILLE – The North Delta Green Wave pulled off a 14-7 win over district opponent Marshall Academy Friday night, September 27.
The field was very wet after all the rain Batesville received on Thursday.
North Delta advanced to 1-1 in district play and 4-2 overall.
Captains for the night were Drew Ledbetter and Tyler Sharp. They won the coin toss and deferred to the second half.
In the first quarter with 7:48 on the clock, Marshall fumbled the ball and Brandon Ciaramitaro recovered it for North Delta on their own 40 yard line. This was a big play by Ciaramitaro. The Green Wave team were not able to convert the fumble into a score.
With 50 seconds left in the first quarter, Marshall was threatening to score a first down and 10 on the 24 yard line of the Green Wave.
NP wins homecoming with 27-0 shutout

SARDIS – They were shut out last week by the Independence Wildcats, 14-0, but Friday, September 28, the Cougars of North Panola gladly returned the favor to the Coahoma Red Panthers with a 27-0 shutout on homecoming.
Homecoming queen Tatiana Gordon watched with pride as the Cougars won their first homecoming in two years.
The contest began as North Panola kicked off to Coahoma, and on their second play of the down, Cougar defensive back Tecory Walton intercepted the ball and returned it to the Red Raiders 41 yard line.
Several plays later, tailback Donny Madkins went untouched into the end zone from six yards out with 5:58 on the clock in the first quarter. The Cougars led 8-0 after the two-point conversion by Madkins.
Both teams entered the contest with identical records of 1-3.
