Local weather observer receives Hero Award |

SLEDGE – A Sledge woman was posthumously awarded the Environmental Hero Award during a special recognition ceremony Wednesday, April 24.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce, selected Maggie Johnson as one of this year’s NOAA Environmental Hero Award recipients. |

Injunction to stop developer? |

BATESVILLE – Three residents said they intended to file an injunction to stop a Batesville developer from constructing houses on a lot at the corner of College and Golf Streets.
Jann Williams, Betty Flint and Trina Caffey told the Batesville Board of Aldermen of their intentions during a special recessed meeting held Tuesday, April 23. |

The family of Christopher Todd stands near the sign which was unveiled Saturday, April 27, to hang on McMahan Field at J.P. Hudson Park. Todd was killed in an automobile accident last year, along with his mother, Amy Robison.
An emotional memorial dedication was held in his honor by former teammates, family and friends.
