SP Lady Tigers take down Southaven in rematch, 12-4

The South Panola Lady Tigers got to experience a successful do-over against Southaven last Thursday night.
South Panola traveled to Southaven and came away with a 12-4 win. March 2 the Lady Tigers lost to Southaven 18-9.
That game was to lead into the district opener against Columbus which was cancelled Saturday. A new date has not been set.
Today the Lady Tigers will host the annual Strikeout for Cancer (SOFC) game against longtime rival Grenada Lady Chargers. The jr. varsity will play first at 4 p.m. Honorees will be introduced between games and Bro. Larry Kilgore will throw out the first pitch.
South Panola 12, Southaven 4
South Panola took a 12-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh, but three errors led to four unearned Southaven runs to avoid the shutout.
After taking a 2-0 lead in the second inning and loading the bases in the third, the Lady tigers ran starting pitcher Saige Koczka from the mound. However, it did not stop the bleed as South Panola scattered the 12 runs throughout the game.
In the second inning, Sydney Morgan and Nautica Edwards scored on a double RBI (run batted in) by Chloe Morgan. They both singled to get on base.
A five-run third inning was the highlight for the Tigers. Tra’Miesha Toliver, pinch runner for Khalena Hentz, who walked to get on base, scored on a Kaitlyn Tidwell single RBI. Mallory Myers’s single RBI drove home Madison Morgan, pinch runner for Taylor Utz, who walked to get on base.
With the bases loaded, Chloe Morgan was hit by a pitch driving home Sydney Morgan, who walked. Ali Cummins line drive down right field drove home Tidwell and Myers for the final two runs of the third inning.
In top of the fourth, Morgan Parker singled and scored on a passed ball to make the score 8-0. The fifth and sixth innings were scoreless.
The Lady Tigers got some renewed strength in the seventh and scored four runs. Edwards walked and Myers singled and both scored on Cummins’ double RBI to left field. Chloe Morgan scored on a passed ball after her single loaded the bases.
Cummins scored on a Parker single RBI for the final run for the Lady Tigers.
Myers led at the plate going 3-for-5 with two runs, one RBI.
Other hitters include Chloe Morgan, 2-for-5, one double, one run and one RBI; Cummins, 2-for-5, one run, four RBIs, one double, one walk; Parker, 2-for-5, one run, one RBI; Utz, 1-for-5, one walk; Sydney Morgan, 1-for-4, two runs, one walk; Tidwell, 1-for-4, three walks; and Edwards, 1-for-4, two runs, two walks.
Tidwell went the distance on the mound for the win with two strikeouts, allowing one walk and four unearned runs.
