Recruiting season heats up
By Brad Greer
With all due respect to the holiday season, the most wonderful time of the year for most college football fans, national signing day for high school football seniors, is right around the corner.
For a group of South Panola Tigers the journey on where to spend the next four years of their lives begins as they begin setting up visits to respective universities and community colleges.
South Panola All-State defensive linemen Eriq Kitchen and O’Bryan Goodson have set up visits while linebackers D. J. Hall and Tramell Thomas are mulling their options.
Kitchen, who garnered 41 total tackles including 12 for-loss has been offered by Jackson State, Missouri St. and UT-Chattanooga as well as a host of junior colleges from across the state.
Goodson meanwhile will visit the University of Memphis this weekend before taking a trip to East Mississippi Community College followed by Northwest Community College on the 26th. Ole Miss and Missouri have also shown interest in the 6-foot-1, 275-pound Goodson.
Hall, who registered 51 tackles for the Tigers has listed Northwest CC, Coahoma CC and Hinds CC as his favorites. Thomas listed Memphis and Northwest CC as his targets.
Kitchen, Hall, offensive linemen Desmond Shegog and Tabarious Evans along with Tramell Thomas and Gerrian Key will visit Northwest CC on Jan. 26th.
National signing day is Wednesday, February 1.
