Summer street paving list updated

The City of Batesville will undertake an ambitious street paving and re-striping agenda this summer, with the work expected to begin as early as June weather permitting. An initial list of streets was approved by aldermen two months ago, and an updated list with some additions and changes was given the board’s blessing at a recent meeting.
Public Works Director Newt Benson said the streets on the list were chosen by priority with condition, age, and cost figured into a formula. The city paid for an exhaustive street study three years ago that helped identify which streets would need the most attention, and in what order, based on a number of factors that included traffic counts.
The new list recently adopted has the following plans:
- ● MLK Drive South
- ● Van Voris (from Pearson to MLK South)
- ● Brewer (From I-55 to Hwy. 35N)
- ● Court Street
- ● Court Street (from Creek Drive to the Square)
- ● Creek Drive to Pamela Street
- ● Pamela Street to Hwy. 51N
- ● Pamela Street to Court Street
- ● Court Street to Shuford Hill
- ● Buckhord Road
- ● Pine Lodge Road (about 2,800 feet)
- ● Hickory Lane
- ● Woodland Road (from the Hwy. 6 right-of-way to Fire Station No. 2 – about 200 feet and over the box culvert, about 350 feet
