Green Wave undefeated in district

North Delta School remained undefeated in district play while running its winning streak to seven games in a row by sweeping a three-game series from Indianola Academy last week.

The Green Wave (15-6, 6-0) eased past the Colonels in a double header Tuesday (March 25) 13-3 in game one and 12-0 in four innings behind Landon Hoshell’s no-hitter.

North Delta completed the sweep with a 5-3 victory at Indianola Thursday (March 27).

Owens Johnson went 4-for-4 at the plate and was the pitcher of record as the Wave broke open a scoreless game with three runs in the fourth to hold on for the win.

Johnson recorded three singles and a double at the plate while going 5.1 innings on the hill with six strikeouts on four hits and one earned run. Jett Manning earned the save by tossing a scoreless 1.2 innings.

Hoshell provided a pair of singles and scored two runs while Manning added a single and double. Karson Ware doubled and drove in a run with Kolby Baker and Herron Williams each singled. Alex Jackson and Hayden Riva scored a run.

North Delta started a crucial three game set Tuesday (April 1) with a twinbill at home against defending 4A state champion Kirk before traveling to Grenada Thursday.
