Richard Wayne Parks, 80

Richard Wayne Parks, a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2024, at his home in Batesville, surrounded by those he loved. He was born on Nov. 27, 1943, in Memphis,  to Allie Parks, Jr. and Essie Sanders Parks.

A funeral service to honor his life will be 3 p.m. Saturday, July 27,  at New Hope Church of God with the interment to follow at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. The family will receive friends beginning Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at New Hope Church of God.

Richard led a fulfilling life marked by service and dedication. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army before embarking on a successful career. Throughout his professional journey, Richard worked for International Harvester, Holiday Auto Parts, and finally at Graceland Dodge/Landers Dodge where he held the roles of assistant manager and parts department advisor.

Beyond his work life, Richard found joy in various hobbies and interests. He had a passion for collecting old cars, showcasing his vocal talents through karaoke performances, and expressing his artistic side through drawing.

Richard was a loving husband to Juanita Davis Parks of Batesville, and a devoted step-father to Connie Ritter (Ricky), Patty Applewhite (Billy), and Daniel Moore (Rebbeca). He is also survived by his siblings Marvin Parks (Linda) of Collierville, TN; along with six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, Richard was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Penny and Norma Parks.

Richard’s presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of hard work, love for family, and passion for life will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace.
