Ronald Eugene Carrback, known affectionately as “Coondog”, passed away on June 19, 2024, in his hometown of Batesville. He was born on April 6, 1946, in Batesville, where he spent his life leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 23, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the interment at McIvor Cemetery.
Ronald was a man of many accomplishments and roles throughout his life. He graduated from South Panola High School in 1965 and went on to work as the Supervisor for Air Kontrol for an impressive 28 years. His dedication to his work was unwavering, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Ronald had a deep passion for various hobbies and interests. An exceptional football player during his time at South Panola High School, he embodied the spirit of the game and carried that love throughout his life. His skills extended beyond the football field into the realm of drag racing, where he found joy and excitement in competition.In addition to his athletic pursuits, Ronald was a devoted deacon and faithful member of McIvor Baptist Church. His commitment to his faith was evident in all aspects of his life, guiding him in both good times and challenges.Outside of work and church, Ronald found solace in nature through fishing and hunting. These activities allowed him to connect with the outdoors and find peace in the simplicity of nature’s beauty.
Ronald will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his loving family which includes, his wife, Linda Sprouse Carrback of Batesville; three sons, Mike Dulin (Tracy) of Batesville, Brian Sprouse (Eve), of Pope, and Harvey Sprouse of Courtland; one sister, Jo Ellen Prudy of LA; one brother, Robert Allange of LA; four grandchildren, Melissa Crockett (Justin), Chris Dulin (Brittney), Hannah Sprouse, and Rosa Lee Sprouse; six great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.Ronald is welcomed into heaven by his parents, Auther Carrback and Martha Onedia Still Carrback; his first wife, Katie Carrback; two children, Patsy Lynn Long and Scotty Sprouse; and two grandsons, Bryan Tidwell and Hunter Sprouse.
