For the second time in three weeks North Delta School. and Lee Academy will meet on the football gridiron, only this time the stakes will be a lot higher.
The two district foes are set to collide tonight at Clarksdale in the second round of the MAIS Class 4A State playoffs beginning at 7 p.m.
The winner will face the Riverfield, La/Columbia Academy winner in next week’s semifinal round.
North Delta (8-3) is coming off a 24-17 victory over Canton Academy last week while Lee (6-3) received a first round bye.
The Colts defeated Marshall Academy 36-0 two weeks ago to finish out the regular season.
Lee is looking to win its fifth straight game over over Green Wave after a 28-21 victory on Oct.18. North Delta has not won in Clarksdale since 2011.
The Green Wave will look to carry the momentum over from the Canton win as Jimmy Manues and Jordan Cox combined for 276 yards rushing and two touchdowns each.
Cox, who has been thrown into the quarterback role in place of an injured Ryan Gibson, is second on the team with 758 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns.
Manues meanwhile leads the Wave with 1,161 yards and 15 touchdowns despite playing on a injured ankle the last two weeks.
Sophomore Hawk Aldison leads the Green Wave defense with 81 tackles while Drake Barton is second on the team with 72 tackles, four fumble recoveries and two interceptions.
Martin Wolfe, Dalton Barton, Luke Harmon and Taylor Rowland anchor the North Delta defense.
