Aaron E. Henry Community Health Center will sponsor its annual breast cancer awareness event – Let’s Tackle Breast Cancer – from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free blood pressure screening, diabetes testing, and mammogram information. There will be music, face painting, food, door prizes, and a balloon release. Various vendors and healthcare providers will be available to answer questions.
The Barktober Paw Festival will be held at the old Fred’s parking lot (401 East Lee St.) from 1 to 5 p.m. Pet costume contest will be at 3 p.m. Enjoy the cake walk, doggy kissing booth, adoptable pets, micro-chipping available ($25 fee), raffle of great gifts sponsored by local businesses, all to raise funds for a new rescue Love All Paws in Panola County. The Panola County Republican Party will hold a “Meet the Candidates” event at the VFW building on Hwy. 51 S. Local Republican candidates will be there to talk to any interested voters from 3 to 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served. All are invited to attend.
Nov. 12
Mobile Pantry Food Distribution will be Tuesday, Nov. 12, from noon to 2 p.m. at Cistern Hill Church in Como. Vouchers may be picked up at the following: Sardis Library , Friday, Nov.1 (noon to 4 p.m.), Cistern Hill Church, Saturday, Nov. 2 (8 a.m. to noon) and Thursday, Nov. 7 (2 to 6 p.m.), and Crenshaw Library, Monday, Nov. 4 (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.).

The Panola County Election Commissioners meet the first Tuesday of each month at the Batesville Courthouse at 2 p.m.
The American Legion meets the third Tuesday of every month at the VFW at 5:30 p.m.
The Panola County Humane Society meets the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Batesville Public Library at 5:30 p.m.
Panola County Cancer Relief Organization meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Batesville Public Library at 6 p.m.
Al-Anon Serenity Group meets Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at Oxford University United Methodist Church, 424 S. Tenth St., Oxford. Take the Tyler St. entrance.
The Bologna Performing Arts Center on the campus of Delta State University will present six films and filmmakers in a series that will run through the spring. Along with a screening of the film, the filmmakers are made available to the local community for workshops and discussions. The filmmakers also conduct a Q&A with audiences following the film screening to discuss the film, their subject, and their work. All films will be screened on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers. Admission is free to all Southern Circuit films. Schedule is at www.bolognapac.com.

Batesville VFW Post 4968 and Auxiliary meets the first Thursday of every month at the VFW building at 6 p.m.
Saturdays
Every third Saturday of the month, the Batesville Lions Club will have Karaoke Night starting at 6 p.m. Music starts at 7 p.m. at the Lions Club building off Tiger Drive.
