Panola County Cat Rescue has been awarded a $1,500 “I Care for Animals” car tag grant from the Mississippi Board of Animal Health. The funds will be used as part of their spay/neuter program.
Panola County Cat Rescue’s mission is to reduce the stray and homeless cat population through a targeted Trap-Neuter-Return program, in conjunction with adopting out stray cats and kittens that will make suitable companion animals.

The “I Care for Animals” Car Tag Program offers an opportunity for Mississippians to purchase a specialty license plate which benefits animals around the state. The license plates may be purchased at county tax collector’s offices.
The proceeds from these purchases go into a state animal care fund which is distributed to animal shelters and humane organizations which make application and meet the criteria for award.
The “I Care for Animals” Car Tag Program is in its fifteenth year of assisting animal shelters and humane organizations primarily with spay/neuter programs, and also with general projects which benefit homeless animals.
Cities, counties and nonprofit animal organizations which are interested in applying for “I Care for Animals” grant money can find more information at www.mbah.ms.gov.
