ND fast pitch splits games this week

The North Delta fast pitch softball team remained winless in district play with a 10-5 loss Monday at Clarksdale Lee Academy.

Lee plated three runs in the second and third innings to grab a 6-0 lead before North Delta cut the lead in half with three runs in the fifth.

Ally Alford got the Lady Green Wave on the board with a two-run triple that drove in Ivy Gibson and McKenna Smith.

Lee extended their lead to 10-3 in the sixth with four runs before North Delta added two unearned runs in the seventh.

North Delta (4-5, 0-3) collected five hits on the day with Paizlee Woods leading the way with two singles. Gibson and Millie Clark provided one single each. Alford and Smith scored two runs each while Gibson added one.

Alford took the loss in the pitching circle by surrendering eight hits with four walks and striking out two in 5.1 innings. Woods gave up one hit in 2/3 innings of relief.

Calhoun 3

The Lady Wave bounced back from their district loss with a 9-3 road victory over Calhoun Academy Tuesday.

Alford and Smith paced North Delta with two singles each. Griffin Rico and Isabella Morrow each drove in two runs apiece. Gracie Tutor, Millie Clark and Alli Wells provided singles in the winning effort.

Woods garnered the pitching win by striking out four while scattering four hits over three innings. Alford tossed two innings of relief.

North Delta visits Kirk Academy Monday before hosting Marshall Tuesday. Both division games start at 6:15
