Batesville Women’s Club wins several state awards

Members of Batesville Woman’s Club joined other club women from the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) and the Mississippi Federation of Women’s Clubs (MFWC) to participate in the 121st annual MFWC State Convention held April 25-27 in Starkville.
There are fifty-one federated clubs in Mississippi with 1,029 members.
State-level awards presented to Batesville Woman’s Club included third place in Fundraising & Development, fourth place in Legislative and Public Policy, Club History Award, Honor Club, and the Creativity Award in Fundraising.
In the state-level MFWC Youth Art Contest, Batesville Woman’s Club contestants won three first place awards, one second place award, and one third place award. Hebron Memorial Scholarship State Chairman Jacquelyn Sergi presented the scholarship to Robyn Hadden, sponsored by the Raleigh Woman’s Club.
MS Public Broadcasting StateCo-Chairman June Griffin coordinated the presentation of the door prizes.
Speakers for the convention included Mississippi author Laurie Parker, Leilani Salter, and GFWC International President Mary Ellen Brock.
The GFWC is a unifying force, bringing together local women’s clubs, with members dedicated to strengthening their communities and enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.
With nearly 80,000 members in affiliated clubs in every state and more than a dozen countries, GFWC members are community leaders who work locally to create global change by supporting the arts, preserving natural resources, advancing education, promoting healthy lifestyles, encouraging civic involvement, and working toward world peace and understanding.
