A Crowder man served 14 days in jail after stealing from a second hand store, before he appeared in front of Judge Jay Westfaul in Batesville Municipal Court held Wednesday.
Jonathan A. Griffin, 129 Crowder Rd., Crowder, was fined $1,146 for shoplifting from Begin Again.
“You stole from a second hand store?” the judge asked.
Due to Griffin serving 14 days in jail while awaiting trial, the judge gave him time served.
Vallene N. Harris, 1283 Shiloh Rd., Courtland, entered a not guilty plea to simple assault. A trial was set for August 17.
Ronnie Porter, 109-D Lester St., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to domestic violence-simple assault and had old fines of $1,754.50 due since July 2013.
The judge told Porter to report back September 28 or serve time in jail.
Chenell Berry, 109-D Lester St., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to domestic violence-simple assault. She also had old fines of $205 due since May 2016.
Jessica Lynn Massey, 1410  Peavine Rd., Coldwater, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting from Wal-Mart.
“What did you steal?” the judge asked.
“A Leap Frog Game,” she replied.
The judge then ordered her to pay $1,146 within 30 days.
Michael Ballentine, E. Lee St., Sardis, failed to appear to answer a shoplifting charge. Al Williams Bonding was notified.
Iesha Walters, 220 Noble St., Batesville, failed to appear to answer old fines of $656 due since May 2015. A warrant was issued.
Michelle Taylor, 198 James St., Batesville, failed to appear to answer old fines of $1,666 due since October 2013.
Chelsea L. Perry, 4457 Jason Patrick Rd., Senatobia, was found not guilty due to the affiant, Debra Perry, failing to appear to prosecute for simple assault.
Kelly Farris, 125 Panola Ave., Batesville, had a case for DUI-other continued.
Ulysses Turner, Northpark No. 4, Batesville, was found guilty of speeding and no proof of insurance.
Derrick L. Nelson, 560 Vance St., Batesville, was found guilty of driving while license suspended. He was fined $381.
Parrish Donahue, 206 Woodland, Batesville, entered a not guilty plea to DUI and open container. He told the judge he was represented by Tom Womble. The case was continued.
Brandon Brown, 1543 Springvalley Rd., Mathison, was found not guilty of child endangerment after the affiant failed to appear to prosecute.
