A Greenhill Elementary School employee noticed a window to the school had been shot out on July 7.
“I was going through and checking the classrooms when I noticed that someone had shot through one of the windows,” the employee states in the report.
School Resource Officer Stevie Webb investigated the incident. According to the report, the window appears to have been shot with some type of hand gun.
One report of shots fired led to an arrest after a Club Road resident stated an unwelcome individual was on his property and refused to leave.
Investigator Terry Smith spoke to the resident who stated he had a .22 caliber pistol and that he fired shots at the ground after the suspect refused to leave.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect asked two individuals to “come and help him out.”
According to the report, the suspect was transported to the Panola Couty Jail for drving with a suspended license and trespassing, after the resident refused to let him leave.
The Panola County Sheriff’s Office received 62 reports from July 5 to July 15 which required service from Panola County Deputies.
July 5
• Warner Road, Crowder resident reported receiving threats of bodily harm to Deputy Jeremy Hailey. According to the report, the suspect wrecked his mother’s vehicle in front of the residence and the resident recorded the wreck and posted it on facebook.
July 7
• Deputy Josh Griffin spoke to a Belmont Road, Sardis resident who reported someone broke into his apartment. According to the report, a Playstation-4 and five games were stolen.
•Seven Road resident reported a breaking and entering to Deputy Darryl House. According to the report, two 32” flat screen tvs and a navy blue HP laptop computer were stolen.
• Lieutenant Mike Davis investigated a case of vandalism to a Rachel Lane resident’s Chevy Malibu. Lieutenant Davis observed scratches from the driver side door going along the side of the vehicle to the rear corner panel.
July 8
• Herron Subdivision, Courtland resident was taken to the Shelby County Rape Crisis Center in Memphis.
The juvenile confided to a nurse that not only had she been molested by her 16 year-old brother, but she had also been forced to perform oral sex on her oldest brother, who is 26 years-old, according to the report.
• Deputy House spoke to a Henry Heafner Road resident who reported to have been receiving threats.
• Houston, Miss. resident reported to Deputy John Still that he turned over his 1997 Nissan Sentra to an individual along with $350 for parts and labor so the individual could fix the vehicle.
According to the report, the resident has been unable to locate the individual and his vehicle.
• Investigator Smith took a report of grand larceny where an individual reported his Kimber Covert 45 caliber pistol was stolen from his home or office.
• Marks resident reported his concession stand type building  on Nash Road was burglarized. According to the report, the window air conditioner, 10 cases of beer, assorted chips and candy were stolen from the property.
July 9
• Deputy Emily Griffin responded to Lee Jennings Road, Como and spoke with the resident who stated the mother of his children entered his house through a back bedroom window and caused damage within the residence.
According to the report, the resident did not want to file charges if the suspect would agree to fix the damaged.
•Merit Health Emergency Room notified the Sheriff’s Office of a simple assault case. The victim stated to Deputy Dean Jones that he was at a party in Como and someone hit him in the face with the beer bottle.
According to the report, the victim could not remember where the party was held or who hit him with the bottle.
•Deputy Mark Allen took a report of property damage from the owner of the Rockhill Road, Sardis residence where a gate was knocked down. Deputy Allen advised the owner to lock the gate with a chain.
• Deputy George Renfroe spoke to a Barker Road, Courtland resident who reported someone came into his yard under his shed and stole a 2003 Honda dirt bike.
According to the report, the resident called back later and advised Deputy Renfroe that he retrieved the bike from the back yard of another Barker Road residence.
• Deputy Renfroe responded to a disturbance on Victory Road, Courtland and spoke to the resident who stated his wife was angry and pulled a knife on him. The wife stated that the husband was drunk and causing problems.
According to the report, both individuals were taken into custody and transported to the Panola Count Jail and charged with family disturbance.
July 10
• Crouch Road resident reported to Deputy Jones that someone had knocked down his mailbox. According to the report, someone in a red truck with loud pipes was at the end of the resident’s driveway revving up the motor.
The resident stated the truck appeared to be a late 90’s model Ford. The resident reported that he noticed his mailbox was damaged the next morning.
• Hunt Road resident reported to Deputy Jones his three year-old son’s liquid hydrocodone medicine was stolen.
According to the report, the resident went to give his son a dose for pain after sustaining an injury from fireworks and noticed the medicine had been stolen.
The resident reported two suspects that were at the residence earlier could have been to ones who took the medicine.
 According to the report, the resident believes the two suspects are to blame after one of the suspects asked the resident for some of the hydrocodone.
•Deputy Renfroe responded to Ruby Road where a resident reported to be missing $960 in property.
According to the report, the suspect, a former resident, gained entry through a front bedroom window.
July 11
• Sees Chapel Road, Sarah brought a check to Investigator Danny Beavers office that he believes was altered by the owner of a local store.
The check was written in November 2015 for $20 and was cashed in June 2016 for $120, according to the report.
• Lieutenant Willie Harris responded to the Como Police Department where an individual reported someone was making threats towards her.
According to the report, the individual stated she and her brother were driving east on Compress Road just off Highway 51 when two suspects pulled their vehicle in front of them, blocking the road, and got out of their vehicle.
The individual stated that the suspects maced her and started making threats towards her. The individual stated this is not the first time the suspects have threatened her and that she has already filed charges on the suspects in the city of Como.
• Investigator Smith spoke to a Shiloh Road resident whose neighbor/sister’s house caught on fire.
According to the report, the neighbor stated that her sister was at the hospital being treated for minor burns and stated that her sister told her she was cooking and it caught on fire. The investigation is ongoing.
• Deputy Hailey took a report from a resident who stated he lost the tag on his blue Ford F150.
• Hudson Road resident reported to Investigator Danny Beavers that he is renting a house and the renter moved out without telling him. According to the report, the individual is five months behind on rent.
The resident also reported that the individual took three heaters, damaged another heater, and threw a lot of garbage across the fence onto a neighbor’s property.
The resident wanted the individual to pay for the heaters and clean up the garbage.
• Highway 51 North, Sardis resident reported to Deputy House approximately $4,819 worth of property was stolen from a storage shed.
• Old Highway Road, Crenshaw reported to Deputy Mark Lott an individual and her husband were trespassing onto his property. According to the report, the resident has asked the suspects to stay off of his property but they refuse.
•Deputy Lott responded to Eureka Road and spoke to the landlord who rents the home.
According to the report, the landlord stated the renter refused to pay the rent and has threatened to sue the landlord for being a “slumlord”.
The landlord stated the renter told her if she will give him his deposit back he will move out in a few weeks.
July 12
• Deputy Lott spoke to a Eureka Road resident who reported she noticed her front door had been kicked in and stated she was missing $800 and a Jennings 380 pistol.
According to the report, the pistol was entered on the National Crime Information Center.
• Wells Extension, Courtland resident reported to Lieutenant Harris someone stole his four-wheeler.
According to the report, the resident’s grandson was riding the Kawasaki four-wheeler when the chain came off and it was left in the driveway.
The resident stated the four-wheeler was gone when he went outside to put the chain back on it.
• Lieutenant Harris spoke to a Thomas Road resident who reported that as he was driving on Tom Cooper Road he stopped to “take a leak” when a vehicle turned onto the road and stopped.
According to the report, two individuals got out of a black Dodge Charger with tinted windows with pistols in their hands and bandanas over their face and asked the resident for his money.
The resident stated that the individuals then questioned his girlfriend, who was in the front passenger seat, for money.
After the individuals took the residents wallet they threw his cell phone on the ground and got back in the vehicle and took off, according to the report. The case is under further investigation.
• Deputy Chuck Tucker responded to Highway 322, Crowder in reference to a breaking and entering. The resident stated someone broke into the house and stole $140.
• Nash Road resident called dispatch and reported that her father was yelling and pushing her mother. According to the report, the juvenile made an audio recording of the incident.
July 13
• Rockhill Road, Sardis road residents reported to Deputy Harold Lewis someone broke into their home around midnight on Wednesday. According to the report, the suspect broke in through a window on the front porch.
• Investigator Beavers spoke to a Pittman Road resident who stated he quit a job and went to collect his belongings when his former boss began “beating and stomping him.”
• Deputy Emily Griffin was dispatched to Ward Road where the resident reported his daughter entered his residence and attempted to take her children of whom he has temporary custody.
According to the report, the suspect had no driver’s license and no car seat.
Deputy Griffin advised the suspect that the children should be left with the grandparents until the custody issue could be addressed during business hours.
• Humphrey Avenue resident reported to Lieutenant Harris someone was making threats towards her.
According to the report, some individuals were fighting across the street from the residence and the resident walked over to see what was going on.
The resident stated she walked back to her house and the subjects came onto her property. According to the report, one subject held a metal pipe and threatened to hit the resident with it.
The subjects left the scene before Lieutenant Harris arrived on the scene.
• Deputy Jones spoke to a Springport Road, Sardis resident who stated a red push mower and assorted hand tools were stolen from his residence.
• Deputy Jones investigated another theft where a catalytic converter and two mufflers were stolen from a Roberson Lane residence.
According to the report, the residents believe their landlord took the items due to arguments between him and the residents.
July 14
• Deer Creek Road resident reported to Deputy Maurice Market that his son took his air conditioner out of the window.
According to the report, the resident believes his son pawned the air conditioners.
• Sees Chapel Road, Crenshaw resident reported to Deputy Jones someone backed into his gate post and knocked it over and knocked the gate off.
According to the report, Deputy Jones observed red paint on the gate post. The resident stated in the report he believes an employee’s wife caused the damage while she was looking for her husband at the residence and hit the post by accident as she was leaving.
•  Deputy Market investigated a money scam on Eureka Road after the resident reported she received a call from someone claiming to be the IRS.
According to the report, the caller stated the resident was overpaid on her income tax return and owed the IRS $7,986 and proceeded to tell her she had to pay at least $500 right then so they can cancel the warrant.
The resident stated in the report that the scammers got $1,152 from her after telling her to purchase a card at Walgreens and giving them the code off the back of the card. This case is under further investigation.
• Nash Road resident reported to Deputy Renfroe the suspect knocked on her bedroom window and then broke into the rear door of her trailer by pulling a clasp lock off the door and caused a disturbance by hitting another resident in the left side of the head.
According to the report, the suspect was later arrested at his work and was transported to the Panola County Sheriff’s Office.
• Ballentine Road resident reported a break in to Deputy John Still. According to the report, someone entered the residence by forcing the front door open and ransacked the bedroom before taking a 12 gauge shotgun.
• Investigator Beavers spoke to a Lake Breeze Drive resident who stated her Ipad was shut down and that a message was on the screen for her to call Apple.
According to the report, the resident called the number and was directed to call someone at Global IP Tech.
The resident stated in the report that the person who  answered that phone sounded a lot like the person she spoke to earlier.
The subject told the resident that she would have to send $119 to get her Ipad turned back on. Investigator Beavers advised the resident to ignore the calls.
• Pope Water-Valley Road resident reported to Lieutenant David Mills the suspect come onto his property and stole items from the resident’s car.
According to the report, when the resident told the suspect to leave, the suspect became angry and pulled out a pistol and threatened to do bodily harm to the resident.
• Deputy Britton Crawford spoke to a Moseley Drive, Pope resident in reference to a stolen Polaris SXS.
The resident stated the vehicle was under his carport that night and his wife noticed it missing the next morning.
• Connie Ross Road, Como resident reported to Deputy Crawford that her son told her his step dad choked and hit him. According to the report, the resident confronted her husband and he hit her.
• Floyd’s Island, Sardis resident reported to Deputy Crawford that a subject was carrying a pistol, causing a disturbance and making threats.
According to the report, the pistol, a bb gun, was located with the suspect along with two rifles. All three weapons were confiscated and the subject was taken into custody and charged with disturbance.
• Deputy Still spoke to a Floyd’s Island resident who stated her ex-boyfriend is moving out of her house.
According to the report, the resident found several items that belonged to her that the suspect was taking from the residence. The resident was able to retrieve the items.
• Deputy Crawford spoke to a Pittman Road resident who reported that her daughter received a call from an unknown number who stated the Sheriff’s Department wanted to speak with another resident regarding two girls.
According to the report, Deputy Crawford spoke with the suspect who stated her daughter called and told her that a dark colored car was sitting in the road with its lights off. The suspect stated she called the phone but it went to voicemail.
July 15
• Investigator Beavers received a report of a dog bite on Mallard Point Road.
The victim stated that as he was walking to the residence a dog that was tied to a tree broke loose and attacked him.
According to the report, the dog bit the victim on the right leg. The victim went to the doctor and was given a tetanus shot and some antibiotics.
