Plans are under way for a Thanksgiving dinner for the elderly and needy in the community. For the fourth year, Gale Bean and her army of volunteers are preparing for a festive meal at the Batesville National Guard Armory on Thanksgiving Day from 10-1. The event is free and aimed especially at those who might not otherwise have an opportunity to enjoy a holiday meal.
For those who can’t dine at the armory, carry-outs are available and will be delivered by volunteers from the Brotherhood Motorcycle Club and VFW. To request a meal for delivery, call 609-3846 or 934-5248.
Bean said her usual volunteers, Lynn Dover, Gary Stanford and Randy Boren, have already committed to provide the main course and vegetables, but she would welcome desserts provided by anyone in the community. Call her at 609-3846 to volunteer to provide a dessert.
