Dogs are prohibited at the Walter Trussell Park walking trail.

Batesville aldermen, at the request of Mayor Jerry Autrey, adopted a fine and agreed during the Tuesday, June 16 meeting, to have signs posted.

“I’ve got some complaints about dogs on the walking trail,” Autrey said.

“One man had his children out there and that dog didn’t try to attack them but he got close,” the mayor continued.

Discussion developed about whether signs prohibiting dogs were already posted at the park.
“Can we vote to put up a sign in case we don’t have a sign?” Alderman Bill Dugger asked.

Aldermen unanimously approved posting signs and the levy of a $100 fine for violations.
