Aggravated assault case bound over for grand jury while shoplifting cases are on the rise

Judge Bill McKenzie referred a Batesville man over to the grand jury for aggravated assault after a preliminary hearing held Wednesday in Batesville Municipal Court.
Oxcavious Poole, 225 Butler, Batesville, was bound over to the grand jury for aggravated assault after testimony from Investigator Jeremiah Brown.
Poole was represented by Attorney Tommy Defer.
Brown said he interviewed a victim whom had been shot in the back on Tubbs Road on March 27.
Brown said the victim was in too much pain to talk at Tri-Lakes before he was flown to Regional Med in Memphis.
The victim gave statements identifying his shooters as Lyndon Mosley and Oxcavious Poole, Brown testified.
The victim also described the gun.
Poole’s attorney asked for a bond reduction from the original $50,000.
His bond was reduced to $30,000 and the judge ruled there was enough probable cause.
Mosley is represented by Attorney David Walker and was referred to the grand jury in April.
Jarred LaPatrick Page, 1120 11th St., Lambert, had a case continued for possession of marijuana in a vehicle, no tag and no proof of insurance.
Dekedris D’Quante McMillan, 349 Tubbs Rd., had a charge for petit larceny dismissed.
He also had contempt of court old fines of $548. The judge told him if he paid his fines in full he could be released from jail.
Willie Kendrell Market, 2827-A Hentz Rd., Courtland, entered the city’s work release program in lieu of paying $2,240 in fines for false information, disorderly conduct, no driver’s license and no proof of insurance.
Tiffany Nicole Austin, 1674 Rockhill Rd., Sardis, entered the city work program in lieu of paying $647 for disorderly conduct-failure to comply.
Larry Gene Taylor, 18575 Hwy. 51 S., Sardis, had a charge for domestic violence-simple dismissed.
Anthony Brooks, 16 Brooks Dr., Cascilla, entered a no contest plea to shoplifting $34.96 worth of items from Walmart. He was fined $1,146.
Lashunda Lynette Windless, 9381 Charlie Pride Hwy., Sledge, entered a not guilty plea to shoplifting clothing items, a hand bag and other items worth $244.50 from Walmart. A trial was set for July 9.
“Bring any witnesses you may have,” said Judge McKenzie.
Benjamin Hall, 111 Patton Lane, Batesville, was fined $1,146 after entering a guilty plea to shoplifting beef ribs worth $22.96 from Walmart.
Tina Michelle Nolan, 109 Court St., Batesville, entered a not guilty plea to shoplifting from Walmart. A trial was set for July 8.
Willie Stanford Harris, 256 Greg Taylor Rd., Courtland, paid old fines of $381 in full prior to court.
He had new fines of $410 for speeding and driving while license suspended.
Mashanta Elyse Bobo, 1080-D Edwards Rd., Sardis, had old fines of $1,315 that have been due since January 2012.
She told the judge she would have the fines paid in full.
“If you don’t have these fines paid in full by July 10 you will serve 90 days in jail,” said McKenzie.
Charity Lynn Greer, 41 Ware Rd., Duck Hill, entered the city work program for 17 days in lieu of paying $1,131 in old fines due since February 2014.
Patricia Ann Burdette, 107 MLK 7-D, Batesville, had old fines of $4,258 including restitution (medical) due since July 2014.
The judge told her to have the fines paid in full within 30 days or serve six months in jail.
Jamie Latez Jones, 210 Garson St., Batesville, was found guilty of disorderly conduct-failure to comply. He was fined $325.
Jamari Antwaun Poole, 4194 Barnacre, Sardis, was found guilty of disorderly conduct-failure to comply. He was fined $342.
Kevin Antonio Winfield, 205 Vaughn St., Batesville, was fined $357 for disorderly conduct-failure to comply.
Shannon Scott Earby, 11 Ellzey Rd., Sardis, had a case for shoplifting continued.
