Beverly Hollis
AMORY––Beverly Hollis, 68, died Monday October 20, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

The family will hold a private memorial service. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Hollis was born June 19, 1946, in Chicago, to the late James Waschumas and Ann Gornick Washumas.

Survivors include: her husband, William Hollis of Amory; one daughter, Kimberly Gates of Holcomb; one son, Ronald Hollis of Batesville; one sister, Connie Caperton and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Calvin Bryant Hubbard
BATESVILLE––Calvin Bryant Hubbard, 52, died Friday, October 17, 2014, at his residence.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Pastor George McDaniel will officiate. Visitation will be held today noon – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Burial will be in Shiloh C.M.E. Cemetery in Sardis. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Hubbard, born July 25, 1962, in Crenshaw, to Angeline Jones Hubbard of Crenshaw and the late Hudson Lester Hubbard, was a self employed carpenter and a member of Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church in Crenshaw.

Survivors, along with his mother include: four sons, Calvin Curry and Anthony Curry, both of Batesville, Antonio Curry and Fred Curry, both of Sardis; one daughter, Keyanna Henderson of Batesville; four brothers, Terry Hubbard of Crenshaw, Bruce Hubbard of Senatobia, David Hubbard and Christopher Hubbard, both of Batesville; three sisters, Jacqueline Burdette of Batesville, Centhny Hubbard of Crenshaw and Teresa McMurry of Courtland and seven grandchildren.

Mamie Ioda Bishop Morgan
UTICA–– Mamie Ioda Bishop Morgan, 106, formerly of Water Valley, died Monday, October 20, 2014, at her daughter’s residence in Utica.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Green M.B. Church in Water Valley. Dr. Preston Gleeton will officiate. Visitation will be held today from noon – 7 p.m. at Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pleasant Green Cemetery. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home has charge.

She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Narcissa Bishop. She attended Bynum Rosenwald School in Panola County. She was a member of Pleasant Green MB Church, where she was on the Mother Board, was a Sunday school teacher and treasurer, president of the Missionary Board, president of the B.Y.P.U., president of the choir, and chairman of the kitchen and program committees. She was active in the Homemakers Club, P.T.A., and Good Will Savings Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Willie Mathis Morgan.

Survivors include: four daughters, Lena Mae Marshall of Utica, Ola Faye Morgan of Milwaukee, Carlene Rogers of Memphis, and Gladys Hunt of Millington, Tenn.; three sons,  Miller Rupert Morgan of Water Valley, Willie Mathis Morgan, Jr. and Thomas Morgan, both of Milwaukee; one sister, Rushia Robinson of Water Valley; 28 grandchildren; 59 great grandchildren and a host of great-great-grandchildren.

Charles David Pittman
BATESVILLE––Charles David Pittman, 53, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at his residence.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Visitation will be held today from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Pittman, born Dec. 7, 1960, to the late Alma Loyd Pittman and Mary Louise Patton Pittman, worked for Crown Cork and Seal in Batesville for 15 years as a senior mechanic. He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Batesville.

Survivors include: his wife, Linda Faye Smith Pittman of Batesville; three daughters, Tishia Pittman Fisher, Danyella Pittman, both of Batesville and Jena Pittman Stephens of Birmingham, Ala.; six sisters, Ruby Scruggs and Lula Morsey, both of Batesville, Sara Darby of Enid, Bonnie Bass of Huntington, Tenn., Virginia Waldo of South Carolina and Tootie Euwing of Senatobia; two brothers, Mack Pittman and Terry Pittman, both of Batesville and six grandchildren.

Jerry Stroup
BATESVILLE––Jerry Howell Stroup, 64, formerly of Bruce, died October 23, 2014.  
Services were held Saturday at Dickins Funeral Home.

Stroup, born Feb. 18, 1950, to the late Doyle Durent Stroup and Mary Helen Armstrong Stroup Wall of Calhoun, graduated from Crowder High School in 1969.  A quarterback in school, his love for football and sports continued.  He was a member of Pittsboro Baptist Church, worked with the American Heart Association and Cancer Association and was a member of the Panola County Humane Society. 

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Miriam Stroup; his second wife, Helen Carlisle Stroup and his step-father, Milton Wall.

Survivors along with his mother include: one son, Jerry Shane Stroup of Olive Branch; one step-daughter, Megan Carlisle Willoughby of Hernando; and one grandchild.
