Historic election Tuesday: campaign tempo reaches crescendo as vote nears
Republican voters or those who didn’t vote in the June 3 primary will have the opportunity to cast a ballot in the Republican run-off election next Tuesday June 24.
Panola County Circuit Clerk Melissa Meek-Phelps reminds voters that in addition to her office’s regular hours, the doors will be open Saturday from 8 a.m until noon for absentee balloting.
All registered voters except those who voted Democrat are eligible to vote in the runoff election including those who didn’t cast a vote in the first primary. Incumbent Republican U.S. Senator Thad Cochran is facing a tough challenge from Tea Party-backed Mississippi Senator Chris McDaniel.
The winner of next Tuesday’s primary will face Democrat nominee Travis Childers in the November General Election.
