ND puts 3-game streak on line against Southaven’s Northpoint Christian 9/27/2013

Coming off their third win in a row last week with a 34-12 victory over Bayou, the North Delta Green Wave looks to keep its mid-season momentum going as they travel to Southaven to take on Northpoint Christian (formerly SBEC) tonight in a 7 p.m. kickoff.
Both teams head into the contest with identical 3-2 records. Northpoint had its three-game winning streak snapped last week with a 41-23 loss to Lausanne Collegiate (Tenn.)
The Trojans compete in Division II-A of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) and is led by fourth-year head coach Greg Wallace.
Northpoint has outscored its opponents 175-140 through five games while averaging 203 yards rushing and 137 yards through the air.
Dalton Markle will direct the Trojan offense. The 6’1”, 165-pound junior has thrown for 684 yards and eight touchdowns on 55-of-100 passing and three interceptions. Markle also leads the team in rushing with 258 yards and seven touchdowns.
Joining Markle in the offensive backfield will be the senior duo of Dalton DeVaughn and Corey Lee. DeVaughn (5’10”- 178) is second on the team in rushing with 219 yards on 32 carries and also is second on the club with 26 tackles. Lee meanwhile has 163 yards on 14 totes and two touchdowns.
Wide receiver Samuel Kail is Markle’s main target as the senior has 20 receptions for 283 yards and four touchdowns. Drew Fowler (5’11’- 160) follows with 27 catches for 182 yards and two scores.
Junior defensive back David Cummings (5’9”- 192) leads the Trojans in tackles with 28 stops.
Northpoint opened up the season with a 34-21 loss to Magnolia Heights before reeling off three victories over West Memphis, (45-20) Holly Springs (42-27) and Memphis Hillcrest (44-18) before losing last week.
The Trojans will look to shut down a North Delta offense that has ground out 255 yards rushing per game. The Green Wave sloshed its way through the rain last week for 297 yards on the ground in its win over the Colts.
Junior running back Austin Redwine ran for a season-high 106 yards and two touchdowns while backfield running mate Bailey Sullivant added 99 yards rushing on 21 carries and one touchdown.
North Delta has outscored its opponents 138-130 on the year and is averaging 58 yards through the air.
Redwine also recorded a fumbled recovery and interception for the Green Wave defense. Parker Jones blocked a punt in the third quarter that led to North Delta’s final score.
