State test scores mixed for local school districts

Both of Panola’s school districts retained the letter grade scores of last year with a few schools showing improvement or lack thereof. South Panola received a “C” and North Panola a “D” ranking based on scores from last spring’s state testing covering the 2012-13 school year.

Batesville Middle School and Batesville Junior High showed improvement in their scores with the junior high school moving from “C” to “B” and BMS moving from “D” to “C”.

Pope School retained its “C” grade and South Panola High School retained a grade of “D”. Both of those schools have new principals for the current school year.

North Panola Junior High School raised its grade from “D” to “C” while Como Elementary dropped from “C” to “D”.

North Panola High School retained a “C” ranking, Greenhill Elementary retained a “D” ranking and Crenshaw retained an “F” ranking.

Other nearby school districts earned district wide scores as follows: Lafayette, B; Oxford, A; Yalobusha (Coffeeville), C; Water Valley, D; East Tallahatchie, C; West Tallahatchie, D; Quitman, C; Tate (Senatobia), B; Tate County, B.

Nearby Region 1 6A high schools  received the following rankings: Olive Branch, A; Grenada, C; Horn Lake, D; Hernando, A; Tupelo, A; Desoto Central, A and Southaven, B.
