Stolen firearm case referred to grand jury

A Batesville man charged with felony possession of a stolen firearm was referred to the grand jury during Batesville Municipal Court held Wednesday.

Terry Key, 100 Wood St., Batesville, was referred by Judge Bill McKenzie to the Panola Grand Jury for felony possession of stolen firearm and disorderly conduct-failure to comply.
His bond was $10,000.

Alfonzo Tucker, 1832 E Woodruff Rd., Batesville, failed to appear to answer an open container charge.

Antonio Austin, 2812-C Seven Rd., Batesville, was fined $474 for open container and loud music.

Damon L. Andrews, 107 MLK 4-D, Batesville, told the judge he was getting treatment as he answered a public drunk charge.

The judge gave him the option of bringing proof of completing treatment or to pay fines.
Bobby Bradford, 109 Lester St., Batesville, entered a not guilty plea to public drunk. A trial was set for September 18.

Terry Bell, 7820 Partners Gap, Ripley, Tenn., was given time served for public drunk while hitchhiking.

He was given time served for the days he spent in jail awaiting trial.

Darius J. Johnson, 236-A MLK Dr., Batesville, was fined $427 for simple possession of controlled substance (marijuana).

Jonathan Walton, 122239 Hwy. 51 South, Oakland, entered a guilty plea to possession of marijuana in a vehicle. He was fined $668.

Laneshia Holmes, 207-A Leonard, Batesville, was fined $2,512 for three counts of false information, no child restraint, no driver’s license and improper equipment.

Chelsea Browning, 1820 Riverside Ave., Clarksdale, was fined $944 for DUI-other and careless driving.

Tevin Lamar, 396 Tubbs Rd., Batesville, had charges for DUI and careless driving remanded to the files for six months after the city’s prosecuting attorney, Bob Morris explained to the judge that Lamar was accepted into the Marines and would be leaving in November.

Cases set for trial
Brandi Wolfe, 206 Pollard St., Batesville, was found guilty of disorderly conduct-failure to comply and old fines of $242 that have been due since April 2012.

Danny Webster, 2585-C Chapeltown, Courtland, was found guilty of simple possession of controlled substance, possession of marijuana in vehicle, no driver’s license, improper turn and no proof of insurance in his absence during a case set for trial.

He was fined $2,162 and had old fines of $590 that have been due since February 2010.
A case was continued until September 25 for James E. Taylor, no address given, for disorderly conduct-failure to comply, reckless driving, failure to stop, running a stop sign, no tag, no driver’s license and no proof of insurance.

Tickets
Leonard McGhee, 208 Claude St., Batesville, had tickets for expired driver’s license and running a stop sign continued until September 4.

Anthony D. Griffin, 4127 Seven Rd., Batesville, was fined $1,396 for driving while license suspended and old fines.

Jerrick L. House, 306 Arizona St., Batesville, had a tail light ticket dismissed after he told the judge he had the lights fixed.

Rankin Q. Middleton, 130 Main St., Courtland, was fined $381 for driving while license suspended.

Natassigna N. Magee, 6416-D Barnacre Rd., Sardis, was fined $605 for no proof of insurance.
