BATESVILLE – Bonnie Sue Albritton, 71, died Saturday, June 1, 2013, at her residence.
Services were Monday at Dickins Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Ellis officiated. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park.
Albritton, born Nov. 17, 1941, in Marks, to the late Henry Woods and Ella Jones Woods, was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and retired manager of Dollar General Store in Batesville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy E. Albritton.
Survivors include: daughters, Nita Gianelloni and Cathy Powell, both of Batesville and Tressie Allen of Richland; one son, Rickey Albritton of Jena, La.; sisters, Lena Davis of Jena, and Virginia Culbreath of Wills Point, Texas; brothers, Billy Woods of Sardis, H.O. Woods of Marks and Johnny Woods of Batesville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
NEW MEXICO — Henry Harmon Hood, 73, formerly of Batesville, died Monday, June 3, 2013.
A private memorial service will be held at St Francis Episcopal Church (2903 Cabezon Boulevard SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124). Cremation Society of Mexico has charge.
Hood was born in Lambert to the late Bedford Hood and the late Thelma L. Hood (Dunn) on April 25, 1940.
He lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, but his hometown was Batesville. He played guitar.
Survivors include: his sister, Elaine R. Hood of South Carolina; one daughter, Lelia “Lee” L. Hood; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
MYRTLE — Linda Kay Polk Howell, 47, mother of Nickalos McClellan of Batesville, died Sunday, June 9, 2013.
Services along with visitation will be held Saturday, June 15 from 11 a.m. – noon at Serenity Funeral Home in New Albany. Serenity Funeral Home has charge.
Howell, born June 9, 1966, in Drew to the late Sammie Lee Polk and Bobbie Jean Friday Polk, was employed with Union County Health and Rehab.
Survivors along with her son include: her husband, Christopher Howell of Myrtle; five children, Samantha Polk and Delisha Polk of Tupelo, Ashley Johnson of New Albany and Joe McClennan of Hattiesburg; her bother, Robert Hawkins of Oxford and six grandchildren.
WATER VALLEY — Ida Arneal McCullar Lakey, 80, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Yalobusha General Nursing Home in Water Valley.
She was born August 10, 1932, in Panola County, to the late Riley and Minnie Tubbs McCullar.
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley. Services will immediately follow the visitation at 4:00 p.m. in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks, with Bro. David Freeman officiating.
She was a bus driver for the Water Valley School District. She was a member of First Christian Church of Water Valley where she served in the kitchen, vacation Bible school.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Lakey.
Survivors include: daughter, Phyllis Lakey Womble of Water Valley; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
COLLUMBIA, Mo. — George B. Odom, 73, died Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Landmark Hospital in Columbia, Mo.
Services were held Thursday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Todd Pittman officiated. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Odom, born July 4, 1939, in Osceola, Ark., was a member of Lovejoy United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Martin Odom.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Hernandezrendon and Dottie Kitty Parker, both of Columbia, Mo.; one son, George Berry Odom Jr. of Kennet, Mo.; one step-daughter, Jackie Martin of Ft. Smith, Ark.; step-son, Teddy Martin of Southaven and 14 grandchildren.
MARKS — June Sneed, 72, died Monday, June 3, 2013.
Services were held Saturday at Kimbro Funeral Home. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.
Sneed was a member of West Marks Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Buford and Ola Brasher.
Survivors include: three daughters, Tanya Sullivan of Hernando, Rhonda Daney of Marks and Jennifer Tharp of Southaven; two sons, Bill Sneed of Perry, Ark. and Brian Sneed of Marks; two sisters, Loretta Morris of Clarksdale and Janie Sidie of Brandon; two brothers, Gay Brasher of Hamilton, Ala. and Mike Brasher of Clarksdale; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to The West Clinic in Memphis.
SARDIS — William Ronnie Thompson, 59, died Saturday, June 8, 2013, at his home near Sardis.
Born in Tallahatchie County, Mr. Thompson had lived in the Sardis area approximately 30 years. Mr. Thompson had done many types of work that included logging.
There are no plans for a memorial service. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford was in charge of local arrangements.
Survivors include one sister, Gerrie Raymond of Oxford.
