Judge Jay Westfaul referred two cases to the grand jury during Wednesday’s session of Batesville Municipal Court.

Keunte D. Turner, 6462-A Barnacre, Batesvile, was bound over to the grand jury for felony possession of marijuana, disorderly conduct-failure to comply and had a bond reduction from $10,000 to $2,500. Turner also had old fines of $1,144 that have been due since September 2011. Turner cannot be released from jail until the fines are paid in full.

Jacalica C. Cauthen, 201-C Patton Lane, Batesville, was referred to the grand jury for burglary – auto, petit larceny and malicious mischief.

She entered a guilty plea to malicious mischief and was fined $315.

Dominique Patterson, 318 Panola, Batesville, failed to appear to answer public indecency – saggy pants.

Barry Flowers, 234-C MLK, Batesville, was fined $164 for loud music.

Therix Johnson, 201 Atkinson, Sardis, entered a guilty plea to simple possession of marijuana. He entered the city’s work program for eight days in lieu of paying $430 in fines.

Waylon Walters, 216 Hayes St., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to possession of marijuana in a vehicle. He was fined $670 and his driver’s license was suspended for six months.

Betty Mister, 106 Normandy, Batesville, paid cash fine in full prior to court for disorderly conduct-failure to comply.

Venton Young, 203 Claude St., Batesville, paid cash fine in full of $315 in full prior to court for simple assault.

Renard Cole, 136 Hoskins Rd., Batesville, failed to appear to answer two counts of simple assault against affiants Latanya Hamilton and Jamarcus Hamilton. Fox Bonding was notified.

Susie Tingle, 539 Cascilla Circle, Cascilla, entered a no contest plea to domestic violence-simple assault. She was fined $404.

Brandon Anderson, 112 Eureka St., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to domestic violence-simple assault. He was fined $404.

Earnest Leverson, 403 Frederick St., Sardis, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting from Save-A-Lot. He entered the city’s work program for 20 days in lieu of paying $1,133.

Darnitia Cornelious, 130 CR 778, Tupelo, was found guilty for loud music. She was fined $164.

Nathon Boyd, 748 Chapeltown Rd., Batesville, was found guilty of two counts of petit larceny and fined $670.

Joseph R. Alred, Hwy. 51 North, Batesville, was found guilty of petit larceny. He was fined $335.

A case for possession of marijuana for James Sawyer, 602 Elm St., Marks, was continued due to the absence of two minor witnesses who failed to appear after being ordered to be in court to testify at the trial.

“We are doing everything to protect your constitutional rights,” Westfaul said to Sawyer’s mom as she explained the other two boys were the prime witnesses to prove her son’s innocence.

Judge Westfaul wrote orders to advise the youth court judge to have a hearing as to why the two witnesses were not in court.
