Panolian readers are once again being asked to help select the newspaper’s Photo of the Year.
The staff has chosen five pictures (reprinted today on page A10) which appeared in The Panolian this year, including Billy Davis’ photo of Jessie Pegues who assisted a wreck victim on Old Panola back in January.
Among the other staff favorites was a photo by Rupert Howell of David Bridges and a bottle he’d found with a message inside from 1967.
In March Emily Williams snapped a photo of Martha Reed grooming one of nine puppies she cared for last spring after the mother dog was killed.
A picture of Boy Scouts placing American flags on the graves of veterans at Magnolia Cemetery for Memorial Day was captured by Rita Howell.
Photographer Glennie Pou was at the state championship football game in Jackson November 30 and caught the exuberance of the South Panola Tigers after they’d reclaimed the state 6-A title.
The five photos are pictured on page A10 and posted at the newspaper’s Web site and readers are asked to go online and vote for their favorite.
The online poll is open now through Friday, December 21, at 5 p.m. Readers may vote once per day per computer.
The 2012 Photo of the Year will be announced in the December 28 issue of The Panolian.
