In district play last week, the North Delta girls (top photo) came home with the District trophy. Playing for the Lady Wave were (left to right) Sarah Glenn Burkhalter, Katelyn Still, Maggie Williams, Hanna Greenlee, Bradi Beard, Jordan Pointer and Paige Moore. North Delta girls won the District Championship by earning one point for each win and 1/2 point for each win in mixed doubles. After all rounds were complete North Delta won over Kirk Academy 6 – 5. NORTH DELTA GIRLS TENNIS
In district play last Tuesday at Grenada Country Club, North Delta results include:
#1 Girls singles – Jordan Pointer defeated Marshall Academy in the first round and defeated Kirk Academy in the finals (6-4, 2-6, 11-9) “District Champion”;
#2 Girls Singles – Bradi Beard defeated Indianola Academy in the first round and Kirk Academy in the finals(6-0, 6-0) “District Champion”;
#1 Girls Doubles – Sarah Glenn Burkhalter and Katie Hutto – lost first round to Indianola Academy
#2 Girls Doubles – Hanna Greenlee and Maggie Williams defeated Kirk Academy in the first round and defeated Indianola Academy in the finals (4-6, 3-6);
Mixed Doubles – Katelyn Still and Sam Copeland defeated Indianola Academy in the first round and lost to Kirk Academy in the finals (6-1, 1-6, 8-10).
All boy courts lost in first round play.
