Green Wave splits district games with Marshall

The North Delta boys and girls varsity basketball squads opened up District 1-AA play with mixed reviews Tuesday night at Marshall Academy.

In the girls match up, Bradi Beard scorched the nets for 22 points and seven steals to lead the Lady Green Wave to a 43-38 victory. Fellow senior Katelyn Still chipped in with 11 points and five rebounds as North Delta improved to 8-5 on the season.

Hanna Greenlee followed with six points while Laci DuBravec and Hastings Neal added two points each.

The roles were reversed in the nightcap however as Marshall, the No. 1 ranked AA team in the state, strolled to a 57-19 win over North Delta. Renic Greenlee led the Green Wave, (0-3), with seven points. Hunt Howell registered five, Jonathan Mackey added four and Sam Copeland finished with three points.

North Delta will travel to Magnolia Heights tomorrow starting at noon with a pair of junior high contests followed by girls and boys varsity action.
