Pollard prowler?

Batesville police, investigating a series of nighttime vehicle and utility shed burglaries that occurred in the Pollard Street area, arrested a man who was walking alone near the corner of Georgia and Park Street near the American Legion Park about 2 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Police Detective George Williford said that the man is currently being held on a misdemeanor charge for possession of drug paraphernalia.

An officer had earlier observed the man being let off from a car in the area of Pollard Street. Investigators have interviewed the car’s driver. They are also are canvassing area pawn shops to determine of stolen items might have been sold, Williford said.

The detective urged city residents to “lock vehicles, utility sheds and anything that can be locked.” He said that he did not want announcement of the man’s apprehension to lull residents into a false sense of security.
