Rampage places 2nd in 10u Bash tournament

The 10 and under Batesville Rampage played their first All-Star tournament this weekend at J. P. Hudson Park. Rampage went undefeated through pool play, but lost to Southaven in the championship game.

Rampage had defeated Southaven in the first game of the tournament 7-3 Friday afternoon.

The game was tied at two after the first inning as Rampage’s Taylor Barton and Megan McGee singled and worked their way around the bases to score on passed balls.

Barton again was instrumental in the scoring in the second inning as her single drove home Emy Cay Donaldson who drew a walk. Jayci Stewart singled and scored on a passed ball. McGee’s  single drove home Presley Williams. The final run of the inning was Kahlena Hentz’s single which drove home Barton.

Taylor Haney scored the final run in the third inning as she singled and made it home on a passed ball. Peyton Pearson was out at home plate in the final inning on a force out. She had walked to get on base.

In the second game Friday night, Rampage defeated Hernando 10-2 in three innings as they scored five runs in both the first and third.

Amanda Lamm had two singles and scored two runs on passed bals.

Barton walked and scored on a Hentz single. McGee and Hentz both scored two runs.

Isabel Cox singled and scored on a Haney groundout to first in the third. Karrah Hudson singled and scored on a passed ball in the first.

Late Saturday morning, Rampage faced Hernando again for the right to play in the championship game and won 8-5.

Inexperience playing in tournaments became a factor for the team as Southaven shutout Rampage 10-0 for the championship in four innings.

McGee pitched most of the series and had some relief from Haney.

Rampage will play in the state tournament at J. P. Hudson Thursday through Sunday, July 7-10.
