Ethel Jackson Bailey

SENATOBIA– Ethel Jackson Bailey, 64, died Thursday, October 21, 2010, at Baptist Desoto Hospital-Southaven. She was the sister of J.H. Heffner of Sardis and Merriweather Taylor of Como.

Services were Monday at Paradise M.B. Church in Senatobia. Burial was in Senatobia Memorial Cemetery. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home had charge.

Bailey was a homemaker and was on the Mother Board and a past choir member.
Survivors along with her brothers include: five daughters, Marion Jackson, Sharon Stewart, Shirley “Shelia” Jones, all of Memphis, Ethelyn Faye Bailey and Arnita M. Bailey, both of Senatobia; two sons, Kelvin Jackson of Walls and Kirkpatrick Jackson of West Memphis, Ark.; five sisters, Mary A. Moss and Hazelstine Jackson, both of Memphis,Geraldine Williams of Senatobia, Rosie Hemphill and Jean Hemphill, both of Minnesota; 22 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Betty Lou Boyles Hedleston

HERNANDO– Betty Lou Boyles Hedleston, 75, formerly of Batesville, died October 21, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.

Visitation will be today at 3 pm at Dickins Funeral Home with a graveside services at 4 p.m. at Batesville Magnolia Cemetery.

She was a graduate of Batesville High School, graduate of Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse and a graduate of University of Tennessee.

She received a masters in nursing from the University of Vanderbilt.

She was head nurse at the Veteran’s Hospital in Memphis where she received national recognition for her work with paraplegics.

Survivors include: one son Andy Hedleston  and wife, Karen of Hernando;  one sister, Sallie  Ann Boyles Walker of Columbus; two brothers Joe Boyles of Batesville, and William “Bill’ Boyles of Tupelo; three grandchildren, Zachary, Jake, and Mackenzie Hedleston of Hernando.  Mrs. Hedleston is preceded by both parents Henderson and Pearl Boyles.

Memorials may be sent to the Sardis Public Library 101 Mclaurin St. Sardis, Miss. 38666. Dickins Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.   

Carol Jean Lott

BATESVILLE– Carol Jean Lott, 71, died Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at her residence with her family by her side.

Services were Saturday at Batesville Church of Christ. Michael Bates and Robert Rawson officiated. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery.

Lott, born March 27, 1939, in Choctaw County to the late Leo W. and Lula Inez Pittman Sprabery, was a homemaker and a member of Batesville Church of Christ. She was a member of the Batesville Garden Club and was on the first Board of Directors for the Job Corps.

Survivors include: her husband, W.L. Lott of Batesville; two sons, Dr. William Criss Lott and his wife, Denise of Ridgeland, Dennis Edward Lott and his wife Peggy of Batesville; two daughters, Laci Carol Capwell and her husband, Ernie of Batesville, and Tabatha Nunnelley of Batesville; two sisters, Lillie Hodges of Gulfport and Tresea Philley and her husband, Mike of Olive Branch; one brother, Lamar Sprabery and his wife, Ruby of Batesville and grandchildren, Will Ashford, Chris Lott, Caroline Lott, Turner Lott, Brett Lott, Tyler Lott, Courtney Darby, Taylor Capwell and Shelby Nunnelley.

James and Alta Terry

BATESVILLE– James B. Terry, 83, and Alta Terry, 81, passed away on September 24, 2010, at their home in the Black Jack Community of Panola County.

A special memorial service will be held Sunday Oct. 31 from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Methodist Church on Mt. Olivet Road.

They are survived by son James L. Terry and daughter Marsha T. Rider of Memphis

Shamika Butler Wilbourn

SARDIS– Shamika Butler Wilbourn, 32, died Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.

Services will be held today at noon at Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Sardis. Rev. Cedric Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Green Cemetery in Sardis.

Wilbourn, born May 28, 1978, in Sardis, to Melvin Salter and Joann Butler Salter of Sardis, graduated from North Panola High School. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Sardis.

Survivors along with her parents include: her husband, Marlon Wilbourn Sr. of Sardis; four daughters, Shatavus Wilbourn, Shamelda Wilbourn, Shaquirah Wilbourn, Shaquirah Wilbourn and Shatezlin Wilbourn, all of Sardis; three sons, Martavius Butler, Markell Wilbourn and Marlin Wilbourn, all of Sardis; two step-daughters, Destiny Harrell and Marnekqua Atkins, both of Sardis; her grandmother, Jenella Bobo of Sardis; her great-grandmother, Dorothy Walton of Sardis; four sisters, Joann Salter, LaTessa Salter and Dorvesha Salter and LaTunnia Jackson, all of Sardis and five brothers, Tyrus Butler, Melvin Salter Jr., Rodregus Salter, Cordarrius Salter and John Salter, all of Sardis.
