The North Delta Green Wave Junior High football concluded spring drills Thursday afternoon with a scrimmage against The Regents School of Oxford.
The Green Wave found the endzone four times during the 27-play scrimmage as quarterback Ridge Simmerman tossed a pair of touchdown passes while Bailey Sullivant and Parker Jones each rushed for one touchdown. Simmerman finished the day with four-of-five passing for 103 yards.
“I thought our guys worked hard out there today. We really have not had a whole lot of practice time so for us to go out there and play the way we did I was very pleased,” said Green Wave head coach Dan Werner.
North Delta scored on the third play from scrimmage as Sullivant sprinted 20 yards into the endzone. On the very next play, Jones rambled 40 yards for the second scoring play. The Wave then went to the air for the next two scoring plays as Simmerman connected with Tyler Beard on a 40-yard pass play. Simmerman later hooked up with Parker Neth on another 40-yard strike. Neth hauled in two passes for 55 yards while Beard also caught a pair of passes for 48 yards.
The stout North Delta defense pitched a shutout by holding the Regents out of the end zone as Bradley Booth, Wilson Morrow and Hunter Pitcher all had fumble recoveries.
