A meth lab bust in Crowder began with a traffic stop in Batesville, authorities said Monday.
Batesville police said Christopher Brown, 38, and wife Abigail Brown, 40, were stopped April 13 by BPD patrolman Hunter Garrett.
Garrett, when he received consent to search the automobile, discovered items that are used as precursors, said BPD Chief Tony Jones.
Mississippi’s Bureau of Narcotics credited the traffic stop when the agency announced the arrests and charges on April 15.
The husband and wife are charged with manufacturing methamphetamine. Both were already on probation for prior offenses, MBN said.
Christopher Brown also faces charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Authorities said the Browns’ home, at 598 Quitman Avenue, included precursors – camp fuel, ammonium nitrate, sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide and pseudoephedrine.
A gram of meth and a .22 caliber revolver were also recovered, authorities said.
MBN credited Batesville police, the Tallahatchie County Sheriff’s Department, and the Crowder Police Department for assisting with the investigation.
