After playing just over a hand full of games, the Lady Tigers brought home a first place trophy from the Cleveland tournament Tuesday night after defeating Ray Brooks 72-36.

“We jumped out to a big lead early and they never could quite get it in gear,” said Head Coach Ralph Stallings. “We kept them off balance tonight and put three in double figures and two more with eight. We should’ve put more in double figures but we missed a lot of free throws.”

Putting up double digits were Chasity Kearney with a game high 26 points, Jelisa Lyons 12 and Dorian Winfield 11.

“We played better but still had a lot of turnovers and missed a lot of easy shots. On the defensive end, we did a little bit better limiting them to a lot of difficult shots. I thought we did a really good job the first half only allowing them to score 13 points but the second half we had a big lead and let up with the intensity a little bit allowing them to score a few more points.”

The Lady Tigers will be back in action tonight when they host the Lady Arrows from Clinton. Lady Arrows defeated Brandon 53-49 Tuesday night with three players scoring double digits.
