The North Delta Jr. High girls ended the season and their run in 1-1A on a high note as the Jr. High Ladies Champions Monday night. North Delta defeated West Memphis 43-38. The district tournament was held at Delta Academy in Marks. North Delta team members include in random order Hanna Waldrip, Bradi Beard, Hanna Greenlee, Laci DuBravec, Katelyn Still, Jordan Pointer, Sara G. The North Delta Jr. High Lady Green Wave claimed the MPSA District 1-1A Jr. High championship with a 42-38 win over West Memphis Monday night.
North Delta led by four at the end of the first quarter, 11-7, but that was cut to three at the half (22-19) when West Memphis outscored them in the second quarter 12-11.
The third quarter was key for the Lady Wave as they scored 12 points and only allowed West Memphis two to pull away 34-21 at the end of the quarter.
West Memphis pulled out all stops to get back into the game and came within five points of catching the Lady Wave, but North Delta held tough.
Hanna Greenlee led the Lady Waves in scoring with 14 points, seven rebounds and two tips.
Hannah Waldrip scored nine points, had four rebounds, five tips and four steals. Other scorers include Katelyn Still, eight points; Bradi Beard, seven points, six tips, four steals, seven assists; and Laci DuBravec, five points, two rebounds, one tip and six steals.
The Lady Green Wave ended the season with a 24-1 record.
