Moering Letter

To the editor:
I live on Fudge Town Road, Sardis. I’m having a problem concerning a water leak in my backyard. The problem began on November 21, 2008.
I noticed my backyard close to meter box was soaked so I kneeled down and opened the top door of my meter box and it was filled with water and running over into my yard. I came in and called the Hotophia Water Association and received only a recording. The next day I asked my brother to take a look at it for me. He told me to contact the man over my water line.
Almost two weeks had passed before the man showed up.
He asked me did I fix the problem. I said NO very firmly. I was mad because I thought about how could my water meter be read in December and January when there was no way a person could see through water to read the meter.
My water bill both times was almost $40. After the water receded and I didn’t have the river anymore until the cold snap about two weeks ago. Now I have a river in my backyard yet again.
I called the maintenance man’s home again on January 21, and a nice lady answered she said he was not there, I explained that my water problem was worse, she said she would tell him.
The maintenance man has not come to check the problem nor has he returned any of my calls.
I want all of the people who pay their bills to the Hotophia Water Association to know that over the years my water that has been so brown my family could not drink nor bathe in it. I have ruined white clothes due to brown drinking water coming into my house from the Hotophia Water system.
My family and I refuse to drink the water any more I have spent a fortune on bottled water in the past two or three years because our drinking water has been brown. Enough is enough.
Sincerely,
Gail J. Moering
