Late night smack ends with pair on docket

Two women involved in a fight in a restaurant parking lot early Sunday morning will appear Wednesday in Batesville Municipal Court to respond to assault charges.

Lanisha Fox was charged with aggravated assault and Marlitia Wall with simple assault following an altercation about 4 a.m. Sunday at the Huddle House parking lot.

Incident reports compiled by Batesville police officers Jon Somerville and Brandon Moses stated that Fox cut Walls on the face with a box cutter and Walls sprayed Fox with mace and struck her in the face.

In an unrelated incided later Sunday, police were called to Cracker Barrel to investigate vandalism to an employee’s car. The report of BPD patrolman Richard Lott indicated that the vandal knew whose car he was scratching along its sides.

Thieves attempted a break-in at the Patton Lane Park on Saturday. A passerby noticed a damaged window on the concession stand and notified police. Patrolman Richard Lott investigated with Jerry Townsend who determined that entry was not gained and that damage was limited to repair of the window.

Batesville officers made one DUI arrest on Saturday and one on Sunday. Officers on Saturday also investigated two panhandlers at Harry B’s, one of whom was determined to have a warrant at the Tupelo Police Department, according to Patrolman Shenika Hudson’s report. Another person named in a warrant was turned over to the Oxford Police Department, according to Patrolman Rick Stone’s report.
