“Through the Lens: Copiah County Truck Farming,” an exhibit featuring photographs from the Luther M. Hamilton Collection at the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, will be on exhibit at the Sardis Public Library.

Birmingham Children’s Theatre will present The Adventures of Tom Sawyer at the Batesville Intermediate School at 1:30 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. Friday and at 1:30 p.m. At North Panola High School.

Batesville Junior Woman’s Club will meet at the Batesville Public Library at 6 p.m. in the large meeting room.  Representatives from the Batesville Skatepark Committee will be addressing the club.

Tri-Lakes Medical Center will participate in the Inaugural Missisisippi Healthcare Decisions Day from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the back entrance of the hospital. Information will be provided to patients on advance directives, written statements of a person’s wishes regarding medical treatment, often including a written will. The Panola County Humane Society will sponsor a wine and cheese party and art show, 5:30-8 p.m. at 211 Main in Como. Tickets are $20. Call 654-0926 for information.

The Panola County Triad senior citizens group will meet at 2 p.m. at Cistern Hill Church in Como.

Rust College’s A’Cappella Choir will perform in concert at Como United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Batesville High School class of 1958 will have a dinner social at Paw Paw’s at 5:30 p.m.

North Mississippi Hospice of Oxford will have a grief support meeting in Batesville at Baymont Inn (formerly Amerihost) from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. For more information call 234-0140.

The Sardis Public Library will have a book discussion on the book Uncle Tom Children by Richard Wright at 5 p.m. The special guest will be Carolyn Jubb.

VFW Post 4100 bingo will be played Friday at 7 p.m. At their post home located at 11535 Hwy. 315 Water Valley. Hog Wild Country will perform Saturday 8 p.m. – midnight.

Panola 4-H will host a meeting to continue developing a 4-H Horse Club. Youth ages 8-18 and parents are invited to meet from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Extension Building. Call 563-6260 for information.

Batesville and Oxford supporters of the March of Dimes will combine efforts for this year’s March for Babies in Oxford at the Ole Miss campus at 9 a.m. Walkers will gather at The Grove.

A Founders Day Celebration and 150th Birthday Bash will be held in Water Valley in the downtown area. Opening ceremonies are at 11 a.m. For more information contact the Water Valley Main Street Association at 661-473-3796.

The Ole Man Poker Run will be at the Eureka beginning at 10 a.m. This is a motorcycle event for the American Cancer Society. This year the event will highlight the life of Gene Larry “Butch” Bridges.

The seventh annual Marvin Hayes Scholarship Fund Banquet will be held at the Como Middle School at 7 p.m. Dr. Angelia Sanders Paschal of Wichita, Kansas will be the keynote speaker. All senior citizens are invited to bingo and refreshments, at noon at the Extension Building, 394 Hwy. 51 South in Batesville.  The Panola County Homemaker Volunteers encourage all senior citizens to join them for an afternoon of prizes, fellowship and fun.

May 7-10
The Crowder Storm Shelter Project is selling tickets for Bost butts to be picked up. 50 Boston butts will be sold for each night. All proceeds will go towards the Storm Shelter Project. Tickets can be purchased at Town Hall or any alderman.

Sat., May 10

Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi will be sponsoring its first-ever Rebel Classic Golf Tournament at the Country Club of Oxford.
